Visit the legislative capital, Cape Town, to discover picturesque wine farms, bustling street markets and delicious seafood restaurants. As the sun sets, experience Cape Town’s nightlife by enjoying a cocktail on an outdoor terrace on Victoria Road.

One of the most famous natural wonders in South Africa is the Cape of Good Hope, a rocky coastal headland within Table Mountain National Park. Walk along the Cape of Good Hope Trail for pristine beaches and peaceful birdwatching.

South Africa’s nature reserves, including more than 20 national parks, provide a variety of terrain for the local wildlife, such as the “Big Five.” The Big Five refers to the most dangerous animals to hunt on foot: elephant, lion, rhinoceros, leopard and buffalo.

Take a guided tour through Kruger National Park to see sleeping lions, or watch cheetahs dart across the dunes at Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Book a trained guide to take you around the Addo Elephant National Park, or discover marine wildlife by swimming with the sharks in Sodwana Bay.

Winter in South Africa lasts from June to August. This is the best season for wildlife watching and the country’s least crowded season. The busy season is from November to March, when many tourists come for warm temperatures and sunny days.

Three international airports are located near the major cities of Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. After arrival, the most scenic way to travel around South Africa is by driving. Rent a car from the airport and enjoy miles of picturesque landscapes as you drive along the well-maintained roads.
