"We booked a 3 night stay in order to be near Buttonwillow Raceway. We checked in at 9 PM our first night. The fumes in the room were so terrible we could hardly breath; chemical-cleaning fumes. I guess this was an attempt to clean the room but it made the room uninhabitable. It was so late that we had no choice that night but discussed with the front desk manager first thing the next morning. Our throats were raw from breathing in the chemicals all night. We had to check out; we could not spend another night there. The manager said they would issue us a refund through Hotels.com since we booked through that service. "Just have them call me" she said. However, their listed phone number doesn't work! Neither the Hotels.com staff nor I could ever get through after two weeks of trying. It just rings and hangs up. So it was an empty promise. We booked at another place so unfortunately had to pay twice. If the Motel 6 staff could issue our refund, then I would be satisfied instead of extremely dissatisfied."

"Rate was $39. So what should I expect? The bar is low. But I wanted to save money and had a clean bed and room. Was not grossed out, but when I spent the next night in a different town I really felt the difference. Again cheap hotel and not a Hilton. I needed a place to crash, get up early and get on the road - it did it's job. That being said the free breakfast is awful. coffee machine didnt work, milk sitting on counter for who knows how long and aside from waffles that was pretty much it. I ate at McDonalds. But like I said, if you need a place to sleep and then get back on the road this works."
