"FIRST. Do not follow google maps. It takes you to a private road with gates. Continue on A2 till you see the hotel sign. The hotel is in a residential planned community around a lake. There is nothing within a 30 minute drive. The hotel is beautiful but unique. Thatched roofs and twisted staircases. Rooms are well equipped but you can’t stand up because of the low, slanted ceiling. The restaurant food was excellent and the pool and outdoor jacuzzi very nice. If you are flexible and don’t mind the drive, it’s a fun experience. "

"We had an amazing stay at Karlamuiza, our room was spacious and had very nice views, the bed was very comfortable. The surrounding property is gorgeous. The staff and hosts were friendly and incredibly helpful and accommodating. The dinner was amazing, not to be missed. It might seem pricey but we discovered that it was well worth it, Baiba is an amazing chef, she uses local fresh ingredients in a very creative way. We did the Sauna Ritual offered through the hotel, it was an incredible experience that was nothing like anything we’ve ever done. It opens the senses and connects one to nature and felt like we were experiencing an integral part of ancient Latvian culture. It was rainy that day so it was perfect to have the opportunity to slow down and relax. Overall I highly recommend Karlmuiza as not only a nice place to stay but a wonderful experience. "
