The property is a short walk from the shopping area of Orchard Road. I was left unimpressed with the arrival experience. The lobby was easily accessible but it took quite a while before I could be checked in. It seemed that the reception desk was inadequately resourced for a hotel of this size. Furthermore, there were no staff guiding guests on where to wait before being served. A couple of guests attempted to be served before those of us who had waited a distance from the desk, perhaps because they thought we were simply waiting around.
The check-in process itself seemed laboured, which may be due to IT issues. The check-in staff went about their duties in a perfunctory (rather than warm) manner. Later I discovered that key information, including the fact that I had been given an upgrade, was omitted.
The hotel amenities, including the fittings and fixtures, are of a good quality. I used the room service facility. The service was prompt and the delivery staff were polite and friendly. The food was acceptable. The buffet offerings at the restaurant were satisfactory.
I could not find a directory of services in the room.
The check-out was again perfunctory but OK. As far as I could see there was no segregation of check-in and check-out. I was asked if I wanted to see an invoice of the charges, which amused me as I had thought anybody would want to know what they were paying for before paying. Overall, my stay was satisfactory but some service improvements could be made.
