We booked this room before leaving the airport When we arrived they said they had no booking even though we had the confirmation from wotif. The hotel would not check us in … after 2 hours they said they would check us in if we sign a piece of paper saying that if the confirmation didn’t go through we would pay x amount … $55 more then wotif. It was 11:30 at night by now and we had been flying 9 hours before so we agreed Management said for our inconvenience they would give us free breakfast .. thank you we said…The luggage trolly had our luggage on it in the foyer but the luggage guy would not take it to the room for us … he said we could take the Tilly with us but needed to bring it back down once we were done … we did not take it back down …. we went to our room and contacted Wotif … Wotif did all they could and finally rang the hotel and sorted it all out … it was 1am by this stage …. The hostel then rings our room and said yes we got your confirmation so now the complimentary breakfast was cancelled …..We couldn’t believe it ! The room was very tacky bed was hard tv didn’t work no complimentary water and you had to step up and over a large bath to get into the shower that had a nozzle you had to hold as it would not stay in the holder and there was mild in the shower. in the morning we found an envelope under the door saying that a complimentary breakfast was now available to us again …. We could not get out of this hotel quick enough ….

One Nights stay
After booking a nights stay at Hotel Chancellor i felt a bit aprihensive after reading some reviews. So here is my opinion. The hotel checking staff were lovley, friendly and helpful. Yes the hotel is a bit dated,, and she has a few battle scars for her age, but don't we all? 😁 The room was clean and comftable, Aircon worked excellent. The shower had GREAT preasure. Free Wifi works well. if you want a modern, renovated hotel, expect to pay more. Hotel Chancellor is all you need for the price you are paying.

Would not recommend
Location is convenient with lots of shopping, food, and public transport options within walking distance. However, the hotel itself is quite disappointing. There was a weird stench in the room once I opened the door. I found a piece of hair on one of the pillowcases. I left my carry-on sized suitcase with the concierge during check-out and was given a tag to claim it later. When I arrived again in the evening, there was no one at the luggage counter, but my suitcase was left unattended in front of the counter. I helped myself to my suitcase, sat in the lobby for 10 minutes and no one even asked about it. I couldn't help but think that anyone could've walked in during the day and walked out with my suitcase. Needless to say, I'm quite disappointed with my experience at this hotel.

This hotel is ideally located just behind ritzy Orchard Rd and the location is fantastic. For its price, the amenities were adequate but the management is clearly scrimping on staff. There was a bottleneck during check-in where I had to wait for 20 mins or more. This has never happen to me in the 30 plus other hotels I have stayed in Singapore. Since the hotel does not allow early check-in, the bottle-neck occurred when a mass of new patrons all attempted to check-in between 2.30 and 3.30 pm. This problem was compounded by the fact that there only two check-in staff when there should be twice that number. This is an old four stars hotel but the service (through no fault of the staff but management) is closer to two stars.

Overall ok just need some maintenance for Room 816 maintenance list: - aircond is not cold eventhough adjusted to 16 and high - shower head is tilted, doesnt straighten up - light bulbs above bed needs fixing. 1 of it flashes throughout the night when the switch is off Room 818 - shower head is tilted, doesnt straighten up - no shower curtain so water splashed out wet - light bulb above bed and above TV needs fixing due to keep flashing when turn on

Location was excellent. Foyer was disappointing and staff could be a little friendlier. Room was dark but clean and serviced daily. We were impressed with measures taken by Hotel concerning the Coronavirus. Checking everyone entering Hotel.

Slow during check-in with 5 stuff at the reception counter but only 1 entertained with 1 customer at that time. Was standing there for 5-10mins but no one seems to bother😬. Check out early morning also same, even with only one stuff on duty (1 to 1). Toilet bit of smelly on day one due to maybe not wash properly.

The good thing about the hotel is its central location. Despite being slightly old, the room can still be considered comfortable and value for money, considering its location. However, I have serious issues with the staff and services, namely: - The lack of shower gel; and - The lacklustre attitude of the staff. First, housekeeping did not ensure that shower gel was topped up. Second, when I realised there was no shower gel in the dispenser only at midnight, I was informed that housekeeping knocked off at 9-10pm, and there was nothing they could do except provide soap bar for me. Third, after I voiced my displeasure of not getting what I paid for, the room service lied and said that shower gels were not provided in all rooms. This is not logical as there are dispenser in the shower room. Upon checking with the manager at the concierge, it was clarified that the room service staff had lied. Hotel needs improvement in [1] allowing staff to have access to basic amenities when housekeeping knocks off and [2] conveying to staff the importance of good service, and importantly, do not lie or brush off guests.

Upon arrival the reception staff were lovely. We received a free upgrade to a room with a view and bath, which was nice. The only downside to the hotel was breakfast. Breakfast options were nice and inclusive but it would have been nice if they were labeled especially for people with allergies. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

I hated the service..staffs were neither friendly nor helpful..they were rude the whole time..checkin was too late..wrong information provided on the website..they said 24 hrs checkin was available but everytime we went there they said the room was not ready..

Good location but there are room for improvements, like part of the curtain has been unhooked & was not fixed, there’s no shaver provided. Towels are clean which is very good. But one day there’s no towel to put on the floor for the shower. The lady receiving calls for servicing when I dialled “1” didn’t sound to be very keen to serve & not too polite, sorry to say it.

The service in the bistro was utterly terrible. It was during published open hours. There were two wait staff on duty and no patrons. I was starving and ordered a chicken sandwich from the published menu. Thirty minutes later, both the wait staff had left and I still had had no sandwich, though the restaurant's published openi hours still had a half-hour to run. Pathetic. I let the bistro manager have a piece of my mind at breakfast thevnext day.
