I stayed here 10 years ago and it was wonderful. The “bones” are great but “cracks” are appearing. The rooms are generous and the property and vistas are beautiful. The property, rooms and facilities are beginning to look a little tired and the staff are struggling. The swimming pool and spa are a long way away but there used to be buggies to pick you up especially during the heat of the day. Phones not working so room service was difficult. There was a ridiculously high corkage charge on some wine that we brought with us and the laundry charge was incredibly high. Bathrooms need a renovation. The overall grandeur is still there so it wouldn’t take much to improve it. No activity was offered. I love birdwatching and preciously an expert was offered along with other interesting experiences.
Elephant Corridor is situated right in the wilderness and when coming there you feel the hospitalty with excellent service. The room are very spacious and the bathroom has both shower and bathtub. There is also a small pool connected to each room. The jungle sounds is around. Just so great place
Lovely hotel with big rooms. The pool was nice too, located a short walk from the rooms and you can borrow cycles. Lovely view of Sigiriya rock too. The bar was a bit of a strange room with no atmosphere. It felt more like a waiting room. We had our drinks outside though so this was not a problem.
Close to Sigurya, Lion Rock can be seen from reception. Dambulla 40 mins drive.
This is an absolutely amazing hotel. Totally away from anything.
A very tranquil rural retreat, only 28 rooms (I believe).
The staff, from the lady gardeners to the waiters, were all lovely. They made it!
Great spot for some r&r. Service in restaurant a tad hit and miss. But all done with a smile. Rooms tired but great size and design. Fantastic bed and linen! Would stay here again.
Based on pictures and reviews on line, we anticipated a great experience. However, from check in through check out, the actual experience fell significantly short. The rooms are dark and dated. While I understand small critters will get into the rooms in this setting, we found droppings (mice, geckos?) at several locations within the room. Our calls to reception went unanswered ( we were trying to get through in order to have a tuk tuk sent to our cabin). In the middle of the night, we received a call from a guest in another room - she was distraught and saying that there was screaming outside her room that had been going on for a couple of hours (kind of scary!). Food was very mediocre and service was slow. Check out was mayhem. We had requested a car service for 10AM that didn't show up until 11AM- ruined our plans for the day. Three other guests experienced the same thing (and were not happy- nor was the couple that had heard the screaming the night before who were checking out at the same time...).
The staff was earnest and tried hard to be hospitable but the overall operation just falls short on multiple fronts.
We enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, and the variety of birds we saw just from the patio of our room. The room opened up to the view of the lake that we could see at a distance and a green belt. Two days in a row we saw a peacock walk by in the woods. We also saw other birds and monkeys. We did not see any elephants on the premises because the hotel property is fended off. We were told that elephants cross the property beyond the fenced area.
Sigiriya rock is visible from the hotel. The park and the trail leading to the rock fort is only a 5-10 minute drive from the hotel. They have a very nice swimming pool. The restaurant served really good food- taste and presentation was splendid. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and taste of the authentic Sri Lankan entrée. The staff were very friendly. On the day we arrived they had some water issues so we did not have water for a few hours. Fortunately that problem did not arise again. The room was spacious and the bathroom was huge!
We stayed for only 2 nights and regretted it: The place is fabulous with spacious rooms that are beyond believe: The bathroom was definitely bigger than our bedroom at home! The beds are very comfortable, the rooms very, very clean and the terrasse is fantastic, too, with a wonderfully cozy bed which invites to enjoy the warm and lush evenings. Even a little private pool is there.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We felt at home away from home and truly enjoyed our stay there very much. The hotel location is very central with Sigirija only 10 minutes away (from the lobby, you even enjoy a direct view to the rock).
Restaurant and food are highly recommendable, too. The waiters are very attentive and charming.
This was a very enjoyable experience for us and we can highly recommend the Elephant Corridor Hotel.
Promoted as an idyllic romantic secluded resort and long ago it may have had aspirations to achieve that. Now its just expensive and run down.
The rooms are large but poorly furnished with Spartan furniture that is uninviting and uncomfortable. The pool is very nice, but is 500m down a hot dusty track to get to. The Spa is further down the same track. Anything you spend would be wasted on the hot trek back to your room. They once had carts, but they were all out of commission. You cannot buy drinks at the pool bar, but need to trek back to the main bar near reception.
The rooms are cleaned well, but not maintained to the standard the prices demand. The shower floods the bathroom and the shower heads spray everywhere except down. Our shower had an ant infestation. The regular up keep you would expect, just is not performed.
The restaurant is not bad, but just plain. Every breakfast was the same 4 curries with no variety. The dinners were mundane. My lamb was served cold.
Overall just misses the mark. If you make the mistake and get stuck here take the time to drive to the nearby restaurants at the quality hotels of Heritance Kandalama, Cinnamon or Jetwing. If possible pick one of these other hotels instead. We ate at Cinnamon and Heritance Kandalama and walked around their hotel. They were significantly better at a similar price.
Don't be fooled by the in-room pools. They are too cold to use and not romantic at all.
Great location, good hospitality, average overall.
Our stay for 2 nights in Elephant Corridor was good. The staff were the highlight with excellent customer service. Hotel location is great, with good views to the sourroundings. Wild life didn't disappoint either.
However, hotel facilities are a bit dated, hotel GM to our surprise was quite pre occupied with barely an acknowledgement of guests which is a rarity in our travels.
I had a great stay here. The staff was super friendly, especially Asanka. The villa's are spacious and super nice. The free nature walk and massage was great.
The hotel is 14 years old and they are currently renovating it. So things can be outdated, but I would still recommend this place. I was really sad when I had to leave. Thanks a lot!
Amazing hotel, great staff nothing was to much, sorted out our lifts anywhere we went, the best food we have eaten in the week long stay traveling Sri Lanka, rooms were fabulous & the spar treatment was fantastic after climbing the rock, we didn't want to leave, thanks for everything x
Amazing hotel with expansive grounds and only 27 rooms/bungalows located in the wild with undisturbed terraces and all with own mini-pool. On-site organic garden, wildlife, beautiful landscape and a view of the Sigiriya Rock. Service was great, restaurant view amazing, food not bad. Nothing to complain about, really. Great for families! Hotel was not brand-new, but with a bit of charming patina while not feeling worn at all. Spa & fitness looked great, main pool was great, childrens pool was great and hotel staff always very attentive. We had nothing to complain about at all :-)
We were so happy to have stayed at this fantastic resort. I don't know where to begin. The rooms/cabins were huge, we had a fantastic view facing a water hole, we had an outside bed, to lounge on and observe the wildlife. It also had a small soaking pool outside our room. The bathroom was huge, with bath and separate shower. The bed was the largest I have ever seen, larger than a king size bed. The property had bicycles that you could borrow and it had a beautiful large swimming pool and spa. The wifi was free, but only worked in the common areas, not in the room. We had a lovely dinner and the breakfast was also fantastic. The staff at this resort were extremely polite and friendly and most helpful.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
loved it but getting a bit worn
amazing staff make up for a tired hotel although the location is amazing and the private plunge pool were just what we needed after a long drive. staff go beyond to make sure you have a relaxing time.
I stayed at Romantic Suite. It was very spacious and well-designed. But really frowsty.... that smell ruined its romantic mood. Hotel staffs were all very polite and friendly. Garden was very beautiful and food was also good. ( but felt too expensive.) That smell.... I couldn't take it.
