"Overall, I had a pleasant stay. The hotel is pet friendly and welcoming to service animals, which was a big plus. One thing to know before visiting is that dogs are not allowed on the beach in Kill Devil Hills from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the summer. "Pros: The recent renovations are beautiful—the room was very clean, modern, and stylish. The pool area was lovely, and the direct beach access was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. Cons: Unfortunately, there were several issues that affected our experience. We weren’t informed until after check-in that the BBQs were out of service, which was frustrating since we had already purchased food to cook. "Breakfast was the best part of the stay. Food was delicious. Lack of soap was replaced by body lotion for had washing. Air vent in bathroom was held in by only one screw and left a space large enough for any critter of rat size to come through. No critters were actually spotted."

"I stayed here in the early 1980s, when I was in my early teens. It has been upgraded since then, but still provided that wonderful nostalgic feeling I had when I first visited the Outer Banks! I wanted my kids to experience this as well, so we booked a room for several days. We stayed in a courtyard room, which was still very quiet and comfortable, despite being next to the entrance drive. "There was no one around, no ice , it was frustrating trying to remember two different codes to enter"

"All staff were professional, friendly and helpful. Room and bathroom were clean. Poorly designed toilet paper holder was a bit frustrating as the tube kept getting hung up on the two prongs and would cease to turn until being centered again between the two prongs, only to slightly shift again requiring yet another realignment. The two chairs in the room (one a rolling desk chair and the other one a causal chair) were very uncomfortable. The seats in both were very hard and sitting in either one...
