Much better than I expected. Rooms were clean and seemed renovated. Beautiful view from rooms. Room like a hotel, facilities and convenience of hostel with a large common kitchen and dining area. Staff were helpful. Not quite in town (a few minutes drive), but this made for a beautiful sea view.

My partner and I planned on camping and the campsites had closed for the season, so we went looking for options. This hotel was great! We ended up staying an additional night here, and plan to incorporate it into trips to the area in the future. The family that ran the hotel were wonderful and patient with the language barrier at times. We hope to stay again!

A small hotel that was friendly and comfortable. The view of the Okhotsk Sea from the room and terrace was wonderful. As mentioned in the description, you can cook your own meals, and there is free coffee for the guests. It takes a walk of about 20 minutes to get to the port of Utoro (for boat tours of the Shiretoko Peninsula and the bus centre) and "Godzilla Rock". There is a ramen and yakitori restaurant about 10 minutes from the hotel. I would definitely stay there again if I have the chance to revisit Utoro!

A perfect place in Shiretoko. Friendly staff, pretty spacious rooms and nice public space for breakfast and relaxing. They can also give a ride to one of the restaurants in the city (of their choice) which can be very useful (restaurant will give a ride back). Free parking space and great sea breeze

We got a spacious room with a picture window of the frozen sea. However, the facilities were a bit dated. E.g,still using old water taps no mixers. But overall it was a pleasant stay

Amazing Hospitality & Great Vibe!
The hotel was about 20mins by foot from the Utoro Onsen Bus Terminal, so it was slightly inconvenient with our luggages. That said, the owner of the inn was really friendly and welcoming, which more than made up for the inconvenience. She even gave us 2 bicycles to use for free during our stay (compliments for guests who did not travel by car) and drove us to the Bus Terminal several hours after the check-out time. Facilities-wise, the pantry/kitchen was very cosy and comfortable; the balcony a great place to relax and view the surrounding scenery, the room clean, thoughtfully decorated and well-equipped (hairdryer, kettle etc). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here (and also playing with the adorable dog!).

One of the best hotel experiences I had. The view from the room was spectecular. The caretakers were extremely helpful and friendly. i simply felt at home with the nice hospitality. Do remember to request for pick up service. You’ll have a wonderful experience in Utoro!

Beautiful view, great staff
Hotel is on a quite part of the old coastal highway now bypassed by a tunnel. Rooms are small but well-equipped and the view over the harbour is great. The staff is really friendly and helpful and the restaurant serves excellent pizza with local ingredients.

One of few sub-par lodgings in Japan??
Iruka in Utoro claims itself to be a hotel, but it is operated like a low-end minshuku (guest house). It has one great attraction, its location is right by the sea, beautiful view of the sea throughout the day. Other than that, general quality of the place is rather poor, primarily because it has been around for quite a few years. And in fairness, maintaining such a place is rather difficult for small lodging owners in Japan. Overall, it was not what I expected. Fortunately, I only planned a 1-night stay. There is however one pleasant surprise, lunching at a boutique cafe about 600 metres down the road. It is named GVO, the owner is a sea urchin fisherman during "Uni" fishing season, so his specialty is cooking uni in a variety of ways. I had Spaghetti Uni - perfect!!!

Good location, view and pizza
We stayed 2 nights to explore Shiretoko. We stayed in a family Japanese style room with 4 futons. The futons were comfortable and plenty of space in the room. A fridge also In the room and you can use their dining area and deck to have your afternoon drink while taking in the view. If you walk over the hill you will catch the sunset. The pizzas are delicious and the staff really helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel by the seaside
Great place to stay. Clean. Bed and breakfast style. Take off shoes and put them in a locker, switch to slippers in the building. A little farther out from the main part of town, but within walking distance (about 1 km). The owner works very hard and is very nice. Speaks decent English. Breakfast is also good. She also sells pizza for dinner if desired.

This is a quiet and nice hotel.
Quiet hotel besides the shore. 20 minutes walk to nearest convenience store. Attached photo was took at the nearest food shop. 15 fifteen minutes walk time.

Great hotel.
The hotel is situated overlooking the Sea of Okhotsk and a lovely view can be had overlooking the sea from the hotel restaurant's terrace. The restaurant serves excellent pizza. Toppings range from the traditional to more Japanese in flavour. The hotel is clean and I found the bed in my (Western style) room to be very comfortable. Free wi-fi is available and also free parking. What really stood out for me though was the hotel's staff. Everyone was exceptionally friendly and helpful and made my stay even more special.

Family style hotel with great view of the bay
We stayed in a 2 bedroom annex apartment, so had lots of space including kitchen and dinning area. Everything was new but perhaps a little flimsy. Hotel has a wonderful view of the bay with a balcony restaurant serving tasty pizza amongst other things

Clean and Comfortable Guesthouse
This place is more like a guesthouse. Its a lot cheaper than the other hotels offer. Its pretty clean and comfortable. Would recommend you this place if you are driving in that area because it is not really accessible. Love playing with their very friendly dog. It came greeting us when we first arrived. The dog's name is Akuri (Ikura spelled backwards). Its a rather good place for a day or two stay. But don't expect too much because its a guesthouse. You may not be able to see sunset from the room. But sunrise may be possible.

The location is near the Shiretoko National Park. The room was clean and comfortable. There is no lift but we had help from the staff. The free breakfast was good. The path to the parking area was a bit tricky n challenging.

We occupied the 2-bedroom apartment with all the kitchen facilities. Helpful staff to recommend all the places to visit around Shari area since it was wet weather when we were there 2 days.

Very charming hotel with a great view of Utoro.
The hotel was in its last legs of being refurbished during our stay, so there were still scaffoldings outside our window. Despite that, the view was great plus the hotel & room was so new, clean, comfortable and charming that we did not mind. The staff speaks English fluently, which made us feel right at home. We opted for the mixed Japanese/Western breakfast which cost 750Y per head. The hotel also offers a good selection of pizza (1150-1250Y) for in room dining or in the cafeteria.

Cozy hotel with friendly & informative staff.
This warm and inviting hotel is located in Utoro, but away from the main resort area, allowing for a peaceful stay while taking in the breathtaking coastal scenery. The moment I stepped through the door the owners of this family run place made me feel right at home, and went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable, this included driving myself and other guests to and from the resort area, recommending places to eat, and offering advice for other places I would be visiting during the rest of my trip. The owner's dog, who wanders the main areas of the hotel, warmed up to me quickly and only added to the charm of the hotel. The rooms are pristine, comfortable, have full amenities and, despite the extreme cold of Hokkaido winter, were always warm. If taking the Shari bus, the Utoro Entrance (Utoro Iriguchi) stop is mere minutes away, the airport liner won't stop here though, so if riding that bus, be sure to contact the staff and they'll gladly pick you up from the Utoro Bus Terminal. I would definitely recommend this place, and intend to stay here again!

We booked the apartment type in the hotel. The condition of the apartment was rather poor, more like a old home than a hotel. It came with a living room, a kitchen, a bath room and a toilet. There is one door at the back of the apartment that was locked. Not quite sure where it leads to. There is only one gas heater in the living room and not the bed rooms. The bath room and toilet are right at the back of the apartment and there was no heater there and it can get quite cold. The condition of the apartment was so poor that we don't feel comfortable staying in 2 separate rooms so we all slept in the bigger room. We also have to lay out the futons by ourselves. The good things about the apartment are the spaciousness and the fast wifi. Fortunately it was just a stop over, if given a choice, I don't think I would book the hotel again.

Nice seaside hostel at Utoro
It was not the peak season, the hotel provide pick up service from Utoro Bus Terminal which is helpful. Otherwise it is a long distance from the Utoro Onsen. Dinner is also long walk to the nearest restaurant, which is serving good food. I saw fox visiting , outside the restaurant at night, that is interesting. Staff speak little English. The view of the sea is great from the hotel. Better take their breakfast for a fee, for town is far away, they will sent you to bus terminal for your visit to the Shereto National Park, the 5 lakes. Other than distance it is definitely a nice hostel.

Good stay
The hotel is a little tucked away from the main stretch of restaurants but provides a good view of the bay. There's a little dog in the hotel who goes around freely but is harmless. The room is spacious and quite clean. Toiletries and towels are all provided. No escalators in the building.

Staff is outstanding. The view is spectacular!
We had a little trouble at the train station and the hotel owner (the lady) made immediate arrangement for us which was a huge help in the middle of the night. They did it very nicely and humbly. We really appreciate it when we are in need. In the evening they took us to the nearby small restaurant which was very cozy and traditional. We has a great experience staying at this nice hotel. By the way, the hotel view is spectacular, facing the water. Again, the hotel staff is very nice, and speak good English. I highly recommend this hotel to other guests and I will stay there again next time.

房間乾淨、海景很漂亮、有免費熱咖啡可以喝。 地點離商店有點遠，不過來這裡的住客都是開車，所以不成問題。 比較不解的是發生三次詭異的現象，吃完晚餐回到房間後，蓮蓬頭自己打開噴水，而且還是開到最大的那種，因為不是小小的水流，所以也不是沒關好的緣故，因為每次離開房間回來後就又開始噴水，最後決定邊錄影邊鎖門，回來再開錄影，但這樣做卻又一切正常了，後來開車也累了，所以也沒有再在意了。 （老闆的想法覺得是門關太大了或根本沒關好🤔）

房間很大，還有大窗戶面對海，早晨很寧靜，旅館人員態度很好很熱心，房價在這個區域很划算，附近還有米其林餐廳，推薦👍
