The whole experience was disappointing. The only thing that was good for me were a few of the other guests and the location of the guest house. The staff during check-in were kinda unprofessional and the guest house overall looked to be a mess.

Dirty and unsafe but good location
You can find a way better place for the same price. It's a basic guesthouse, but based on my experience it was very dirty and none of the doors had locks (not even the main entrance door), which really bothered me. This is an ok place to stay for one night, since the location is good, but I still wouldn't recommend this guesthouse.

A very nice and strategic place to stay, no fussy owner and staff. Quiet at night but you can still “partying” at undergroud floor without disturbing other guest. 10 mins walking from Hongik Univ station with 3-4 convenience store along the way. Recommended!

Highly Highly recommend staying here!!! Also if you plan on staying here hang around the reception you will meet some of the coolest and nicest individuals :) .. Bed was honestly surprisingly very comfortable... and I’m picky when it comes to beds. I overall loved my stay here and when I return to korea I know where I plan on staying! Also be very respectful towards the staff. (: Speaking of staff special thanks to Eli!!!! She is awesome!!

So dirty that I never showered here. I didn't even want to use the bathrooms. I guess if you're really in a pinch and need a place to sleep, but I wouldn't stay here again

This hostel is in a very good location for tourists in Hongdae with very many friendly guests all hours of the day in the common room. The service will do their best to meet your needs in a timely manner. Jiaxin was especially good and kind and pretty. Very good value for the price!

Great if you are in need of a bed.
My room was upgraded by Susie, which was nice. The staff was also helpful in booking a taxi to the airport for me. The staff themselves were great. Super friendly. The bathrooms could have been cleaner and I did find a roach in my room. Roaches are pretty standard for Asia, but it’s strange to see them in early spring on the 4th floor. It’s a cheap place to stay if you’re not planning on spending any time in your room except for sleeping.

Nice hotel close by Hongdae
Had a great experience at this hotel , good atmosphere and great people. Jin was good friend who helped me out when I needed it. I would recommend this my friends if they ever go to south korea

Rude reception, and some of the staff would not even greet me back. I was told by several other guests that this was their regular place to come to Seoul to get drunk. I couldn't sleep at all on the second night.

Nice affordable hostel
For the affordable price of Kimchee Hongdae Guesthouse, this hostel is a decent stay while staying in Hongdae. There are little eateries close by the hostel and to get to the subway and main happening spot in Hongdae, it takes about a 15 minute walk. It was hard to find at first, in a small alleyway, but the area is a quiet one. Service was nice and always willing to help. If you're looking for an affordable stay, this would be a place to consider. Although (as expected of what little you pay) there is no elevator and the bathrooms are kind of old. The walls are kind of thin, so you can hear what's happening in the bathroom too... Overall, an okay experience.

I was absolutely disgusted with this place. I was traveling over 3 weeks in Korea and I had stayed in numerous cheap hostels, but this place was by far the worst hostel I have ever been too. The floors have not been swept for months, the ways had water leaks with poor patching, and the bathroom sink leaked all its used water on the floor running right to your feet. The place has a drug house/brothel kind of appearance with how grungy it is. There were lots of mosquitos and I found brown spots on my pillow case. It was so gross that I couldn't stay anymore nights after the first night.

Video Directions
Kimchee Guesthouse has a walking video of how to get to the guesthouse from the closest subway station. That's what sold me. A lot of guesthouses are hard to find even with a drawn map. This was fool proof.

Good location in Hongdae but in between Sinchon and Yongik stations so not too close to subway. Clean but men may need to walk up or down a level to use the toilet and shower since every other level is women use only.

I visited here alone. The bed is massed up(i don't think they don't checked everyday) if you don't ask towel u can't received it. Ur room is suddenly locked.. you need key all the time. Cheep price. But only cheep. Usually i dont write this... but people have to know this!!

何よりも汚い、階段にバスタオルがたくさん落ちて黒くなって何日も放置、缶のドリンクも中身こぼれてほっとかれ放置。寝室も床は歩くと足の裏が真っ黒で、ゴミもそこら中落ちてる。扉が錆びてて開きづらい。 タオルも臭くて使えず自分で持参したものを使いました。 セキュリティが全くなっておらず、入口、部屋、ロッカーどこにも鍵はありません。誰でもいつでも寝室に入れます。毎晩不安に思いながら寝ていました。 女性専用部屋を予約したにもかかわらず、男性が部屋の中に入ってくる(その寝室を使っている女性の友人)そしてそのまま話してる。女性専用部屋なのだから、男性は入れないで欲しいです。 フロントに伝えると。やんわりーと注意するだけで解決にならず。 3泊しましたが、2日目、3日目の夕方まで部屋のトイレ、シャワーが使えなくなり、寒い中夜中に違うフロアのトイレを借りなくてはいけなくなった。 ちなみに部屋の水周りは常に水漏れしていました。 トイレだけやむを得ず使いましたが、シャワーは3日全て最寄りの銭湯(チムチルバン)を利用しました。 フロント横に喫煙室がありますが、ちゃんとドアが閉められてないのかフロントまでかなりタバコ臭く、フロント目の前にある小さいキッチンは匂いが気になり使えません。 二度と利用したくありません。
