Booked and paid for a room. On the day of booking when I arrived at 8:30 pm, staff informed me that they had no vacancy and they overbooked my room to another client.
They said they arranged for a friends hotel to stay at with similar amenities instead.
The alternate hotel was cheaper, but I didn’t get reimbursement. They were happy to keep the extra money between the room costs.
Also, alternate hotel was cheaper for a reason. The room I was given was too small to open my luggage, the front reception area had flying ants everywhere. Luckily, the ants weren’t in the room.
Comparing pictures of what I booked for, clearly not equivalent in hotel type.
In summary, beware that even if you book weeks in advance this company may bump your reservation for another one. Then they will offer you a worse stay, elsewhere and keep the extra income. Lacking respect and commitment to a prior booking.
Expedia says to get in touch next time before alternate arrangements. But this isn’t always practical if you arrive late in the evening and tired.
