"The cabin was pleasant, had basic necessities. I deducted two stars because there was absolutely NO COMMUNICATION from the host. The site said there would be no one present at check in and directions would be sent prior to arrival. I heard nothing, even after reaching out multiple times. I was concerned about arriving in early evening and not knowing how to get in. Turns out there was a lock with a key in it in the front door.
Also, not this host’s fault, but it was IMPOSSIBLE to get through...

"This place was beautifully maintained and had a lot to do. Staff was incredible and very helpful. Food was good and reasonably priced. Gorgeous property. Room was very clean."
"There was nothing that we wanted for at the resort property during our stay. Though we did not make use their tour booking function, we did visit the iguana sanctuary on site, which is a reasonably priced must-do. Proceeds allow local Belizean children to learn more about their country and the environment.
The on site restaurant (Running W) was fantastic. Bartenders knew their business, and we enjoyed well made cocktails and specials all week. Highly recommend.
Our only critique is more of a warning, and not something the hotel management or staff can affect, it is just something guests should know… getting into town for dinner or drinks involves a climb down and back up a steep hill at the end of your evening. It’s totally doable, but it is just an advisory for the elderly or infirm."
"Warning: This place will cause you to forget all your worries and relax in nature!
What a fabulous place to lay your head for a few nights. Nestled amongst the jungle and mountainous terrain is Maya Mt Lodge. There are hiking trails that head down to the river, definitely explore these. The pool is a welcome relief after a hot day of exploring nearby archaeological sites or exploring the town. You hear the birds and cicadas constantly and it feels like you are in the jungle. The cabins are spread out enough to feel private but also there are enough rooms in each cabin to have chats with fellow travellers.
The staff here are amazing. Cesar at the front desk is an absolute legend! He is knowledgeable and helpful and can book just about anything you need - tours, transport, dinners, you name it he can do it! I'm sure if you asked him to book you a skywriting lesson, he would be able to do that!
Julie (and Rey) in the restaurant were so accommodating, cooking me delicious vegan food on request, definitely check out the on-site restaurant!
It is walkable to the town (about 30-40mins depending on the heat and your love of uphill streets!) or you can grab a taxi.
I'm really glad I chose to stay here and not in the hustle and bustle of the town (even though it is a bit of a walk/taxi to get into town there's not actually that much there), and I would not hesitate to stay here again. Bring a good book and just enjoy all that Maya Mountain Lodge has to offer!"
"Absolute GORGEOUS many-acre property in the jungle. Living luxurious while in an an unspoiled area of jungle with 5 star service, F & B. I'm not sure how vacations get any better. Awesome pool for our 2 kids, too! 6 star experience. "
"Very friendly helpful staff!
Was able to store luggage when taking a few day trip to Guatamala. Its price is gpod and ablw to swim at their partner hotel Midas!"
"This place is beautiful, and the staff are great. The cabana we stayed in was spacious and comfortable, and we saw lots of beautiful birds and some wildlife on the property."
