Although the surrounding area was dirty, filled with addicted homeless, the building felt safe. Room was small and bare minimum. Overall I was uncomfortable but better than sleeping on the streets.

Sonder was the perfect stay for a girls trip! It was so convenient to check in using my phone as well as the keyless entry with the Sonder app. The rooms are small and ours had no natural light but that really wasn’t a big deal to us because we didn’t spend much time in the room! We were warned by multiple Uber drivers not to walk around at night and we did experience an unhoused person offering us drugs right outside of the building, but I just think that’s going to be an issue with any hotel in this area of San Francisco. Overall we loved the city and the stay was great!

It's a really nice place to stay if you're traveling solo or as a pair. The accommodations were good and you can do your laundry if you need to. I will say, if you want to stay away from the homeless people, it might not be the place for you since the surrounding area is filled with them.

The hotel is very conveniently located for walking and transit. The rooms are clean and quiet, and handy that they come with white noise machines and ear plugs. Friendly staff, luggage storage and laundry facilities.

The room was a bit smaller than we anticipated. The photos made it seem much bigger, and there was supposed to be a fridge, but there wasn't. The overall stay wasnt terrible! The beds were comfy, no bed bugs, the cleanliness inside the room and building was great, but its Downtown San Francisco, so of course the area around wasnt the best. However, we felt safe with the keypad entry door to both the building and our room!

The hotel is sufficient and conveniently managed through the app, the area around the hotel has a few places to eat and is very close to the transit and rapid transit that can take you through the downtown, however the lack of staff on site and the declining neighbourhood make the hotel feel vacant and not that safe. I never had an issue and this is purely a concern, not necessarily a reality - but There needs to be front desk staff at all times so that at risk travellers are able to enter and exit the hotel with piece of mind that they have someone there to insure that they are not followed inside. Over all my stay was very comfortable and I wasn’t stressed about my personal safety l because I’m a 230 lb man, but for the price of the stay there should be a fridge in the room at bare minimum, and maybe a microwave or something. The hotel has old charm with a very pretty atrium but generally the no-fuss gimmick falls short because there is a lack of service and a slight lack of safety given the downtrodden downtown streets that the hotel opens to. I would still recommend this hotel, it was quiet and comfortable, and convenient.

Honestly we didn't even check in. The area surrounding this property was immersed by homeless that were very aggressive and on various drugs. My daughter and I were in town for college visits and had to find other accommodations. The property would not refund and were not helpful. BEWARE of this property!

The inside was mostly great. Thin walls you could hear everything. Bed was fine. Nicely designed. Convenient luggage locker.

Newly refurbished room, great bed and bedding, free coffees and very clean. A bit of a problem is constant white noise and window sheds are not the best.

Fairly small room in excellent location. Clean, everything worked well. Very friendly and helpful staff. Faast, reliable wifi. Checkin via app is a little complicated, bunk beds in room have comfortable mattress but seem confining. TV has no local or cable channels, just your streaming services.

Staff was wonderful. We did not like the neighborhood with the homeless so we only stayed one night. No issue getting a refund for additional 3 nights. The room we booked had bunkbeds, we could not sit upright on the bed. There was hardly any space. Can't imagine 4 people there, suitcases would have to be piled on top of each other. There is a homeless 'tent' directly across the street.

You should know what to expect when you book - it's ok for that but there is no air conditioning in the room and it is extremely noisy with windows open - open the window and you get all the cigarette smoke blowing up into your window - they know the AC doesn't work and they seem to have no plan on fixing it - I felt mislead as advertised - be aware of this issue and no room cleaning at all - even if requested - not a service they offer

Booked a room with a television and refrigerator and got neither of those during check in. Room had a broken hvac system and was very hot. Was given a fan but it didn’t make the situation better. Was moved to a different room the second night that had working hvac but the room layout was inefficient. Staff was helpful in trying to resolve the issue but it ultimately led to cancelling the booking and finding another hotel. Was told the new room was only good for two nights as another group booked the room type. Front desk was supposed to notify me if we were staying in the room or being moved for a second time, but that didn’t happen and had to wait on a phone call for almost an hour to find out there was an issue that couldn’t be resolved. Ended up getting a refund, after fighting with the company, as they wouldn’t proved an adequate room for the last three nights of my stay. Staff was helpful and nice but the overall company wasn’t very helpful and made for a terrible experience while on vacation. Advise to book elsewhere.

We booked a room with 4 bunk beds. When we got there it was so tiny that we could only open one suitcase at a time. No television, chair or fridge and limited towels. We had to ask to get more and to get them changed out as we were there for 5 days and there is no cleaning staff there. Also the elevator did not work for 3 days and we were on the 6 th floor. The room was clean but it is not made for adults. The hotel is not in the best area but it has a passcode on the main door so we did feel pretty safe.

The location was central and the staff were very nice. The room was clean. Biggest problem was no window in the tiny room. There was a window but it looked out into the hallway. Also it wasn't made clear to us that there was a lounge on the second floor so we never knew about it until the last day of our 9 day stay! Knowing about the ice machine, microwave, free coffee, and laundry room would have made all the difference to our stay. Apparently it was in the check in instructions but I never saw it despite reading them.

Great place our room was just loud from heater/ac
The hotel is great. Extra clean and very comfy. GReat price, perfect styling. No fuss. I would give 5 stars and top ratings if our room ac/heater was not making loud crazy sounds all night as well as loud plumbing sounds in two walls. We did not sleep. Room 705 needs some attention.

My mobile key never worked and there is no housekeeping. Staff was really nice but I wish the hotel was affiliated with a pool/ gym. I didn't learn about the lounge on the 2nd floor until my second day there. Room is clean and amenities are nice. I wish there was a fridge and microwave in the room since it's more of an air b and b setup.

It was nice that there was a lounge for guests with plenty of coffee, a microwave, utensils, and a laundry room. Bed was clean and comfortable and the showers were hot.

Hotel is nicely decorated, short walk to Union Square, public transportation nearby, staff is friendly and helpful - some areas feels a little unsafe after dark but definitely would stay here again.

We have a wonderful experience the hotel is beautiful. The neighborhood is safe and very close of Chinatown, Union Square. So many great things around the hotel.

Very stressful and like a prison cell.
Felt like staying in a prison cell. Toilet right by end of bed and room smelt of drains.Ugh . The hotel is located in homeless area so every time you go out of the door you are faced with drugged up mentally challenged homeless people which is incredibly stressful when trying to negotiate where to visit and returning as you have to punch in a code to get into the building . Very stressful and not what yo want bon holiday!

Staff was super friendly and helpful. They loaned us a cooler for use at football and baseball games we went too as well as giving recommendations of bars and restaurants. The room had a slight smell but we were able to borrow febreeze that helped.
