During our stay, we had multiple negative interactions with a maintenance employee working the night shift (I believe his name was Carlos). The first incident occurred while we were waiting for friends and briefly held the elevator. Rather than calmly explaining any policy, he spoke to us rudely and disrespectfully, repeatedly telling us not to hold the door without explanation. When the elevator malfunctioned, he came out muttering rude remarks, and after we had walked away, he proceeded to glare at us with clear hostility.
Hours later, when we returned and asked where the restroom was located, he responded, “If you were staying here, you should know,” which was dismissive and inappropriate. He then went outside to smoke a cigarette in front of the hotel, which did not reflect professional conduct. At no point did his behavior resemble that of a hotel employee, and his demeanor made it difficult to even identify him as staff.
Overall, the treatment we received was unprofessional and unsettling. Fortunately, we were with our husband. Had we been alone, we would have felt genuinely unsafe. His behavior toward the women in our group was intimidating and noticeably different than when the men were present. If we had been able to receive a refund, we would have stayed elsewhere. We do not plan on returning. Guests should be treated with respect and spoken to appropriately at all times.
