"Very clean which was great. No air-conditioning and no fans which during a heatwave made it quite unpleasant. It was absolutely not clear on booking that the pool is over 18s only. The pool was the only reason we picked this property and our 14 and 16 year old were excited to cool off in the pool, to be told they couldn't was hugely disappointing. There appears to be a restaurant but we were told it is not open in the evenings."

Le Grand Hôtel de l'Espérance

10/10 Excellent

"We arrived 3 hours late due to problems with the Shuttle crossing.We were very tired and stressed, wondering whether we would find somewhere to eat. The restaurant was closing, but I spoke to the girl on reception who persuaded the chef to allow us to eat in the restaurant. The meal was excellent. Breakfast was good, basic and suited the old-fashioned ambiance of the hotel."

"A terrific location - close to the center of Caen as well as an easy drive to many lovely towns and historic sites. The hotel was quiet and clean and the staff were so friendly and really pleasant to interact with. We would definitely stay here again."
