This reservation was made for members of my family, with payment scheduled to be charged to the credit card registered in my Expedia account. I would not be present at the time of check-in.
On the day of arrival, my family contacted me to inform that the hotel was requiring the physical presentation of the credit card or payment in cash. When I spoke with a staff member, I was informed that the payment could be accepted as long as I sent an email confirming my details and attaching a copy of my identification.
I explained that I would not send a copy of any personal document but could authorize the payment via email or, if necessary, arrange for payment in cash. After speaking with the manager, the staff member agreed to proceed with the check-in upon receiving my email authorization and processing the payment using the card already registered with Expedia.
