Wonderful views
Enjoyed our stay in a beautiful area. The hotel is right on the river and very close to restaurants, cafes and shops. Rooms are good size with large bathrooms. Dervice friendly and helpful. Also is short walk to German border

Pleasant stay
We stayed here as we were visiting family in Rheinfelden. Hotel is in a perfect location beside the river. The receptionist was very friendly. The double room we had was very small but it was fine for what we needed. The twin room we booked for our children was a lot bigger. It would be nice if there was a kettle & cups in the room. Reception were happy to give us a pot of hot water so we could make a drink, there is complementary drinks in the fridge which was nice. Breakfast was good. WiFi in the hotel worked well. We had a good stay and would stay at the hotel again.

Good hotel, close to the station
Comfortable and clean hotel. Restaurant food was excellent as well, although expensive (this is Basel, so I wasn't surprised). Perhaps slightly under-staffed in that there only seemed to ever be one person managing both the restaurant and the desk (both in the evening and in the morning) but it wasn't a problem.

Great location and hotel!
Hotel location was great, right downtown. Morning breakfast buffet was wonderful with wide selection and the hotel itself was nice. The rooms were good and had great views of the river. Bathroom was good but could use a little updating. Would definitely stay there again.

I highly don't recommend this hotel
We booked this hotel on the last moment. The room specifications included king bed, which was important for us. We arrived late to the hotel, after a very unfortunate day, only to find a very small room, with a very average bed (not even close to a king size). In addition, the room had a balcony, that had access both from the room and from the floor corridor. We asked to change the room, for we didn't care much for having other guests in our balcony. The receptionist was very not helpful, saying the only option will be to upgrade the room, meaning to add more money. The manager was also present, but couldn't care less and didn't care for our problem. It seemed that since we booked via hotels.com, and not directly trough the hotel, they didn't think of us as their costumes, and didn't even remotely cared for our situation.

Small, friendly hotel on the Rhine.
This was a return visit for 4 nights to this quiet and comfortable hotel on the Rhine in the picturesque town of Rheinfelden. The staff were friendly and helpful. My single room had a balcony overlooking the Rhine and I enjoyed waking up to the sound of the flowing river before heading downstairs to a generous buffet breakfast.

Amazing view on Rhein river
We've stayed in this hotel during Art Basel exhibition in early June just because there was nothing available in Basel itself. The location is just fantastic, with breathtaking views on Rhein river, just 12 mins to Basel city centre by car, with a parking available right in front of the hotel (which you can't even dream about in Basel for instance). The service and friendliness of staff are exceptional, while showers and beds are not. It was quite hot in the room so windows remained opened the whole night. A big plus is the fast internet connection. Overall impression of the hotel is very good.

As relaxing as a business trip can be...
Hotel Schiff is fantastic value, stunning location, easy access and flexible. Eating and/or drinking on the hotel restaurant deck that extends out and OVER the Rhein is spectacular. Favorite place to work. It doesn't get better than that deck (service is great too!). The only downside to the hotel is at night during Spring & Summer due to the excessive # of minute moths. Makes it difficult to enjoy the nice deck that each riverside view room has as the moths are drawn to light. Not the hotel's fault, nature of Rheinfelden. Also, can't beat the jogging along the Rhein - 2km to 5km rdtp run (Rhein on one side and beautiful park on the other).

Hotel is in idyllic location--great Swiss Village on left bank of the Rhine and right next to the bridge that takes you into Germany. Hotel is classic old style--you still have big heavy keys for the room. My room window opened up onto the Rhine river, but unfortunately there was no balcony. Hotel restaurant is well above average with an incredible staff for both breakfast and dinner. Breakfast menu is minimal, but worked well for me. Dinner menu proved very interesting and the quality of the food was outstanding. Hotel internet met my needs.....it is via Swisscom and the connect mechanism is a once 'n done (thankfully as I stayed 4 nights) and proved to have excellent bandwidth. The hotel will work okay for the experienced business traveler and will be superb for the casual traveler looking for value accommodations in a country where it is real hard to find value when using the US Dollar.

Stayed here on a business trip. Nice hotel on the Rhine with gorgeous views of the river, especially in the restaurant. Good breakfast buffet and fast wireless internet. The hotel is at the base of the old town that is a lovely area. Also close to the train station with quick access to Basel.

Why do I mention free wifi - because so many hotels in the area either dont have wifi (yes its true - even the sister hotel) or charge a bundle for it. Location is excellent with great views over the river, the restaurant is one of the best in the area (so breakfast is simple but great quality), free soft drinks in the mini bar. Downside would be the rooms - very 1970's and basic - only CNN on TV in English, bathrooms tiny with the weakest showers in the world (but thats common to other hotels in the area)

Last minute trip to see Art Basel but couldn't get a room in the city. So glad we booked this hotel! Arrived during the middle of the 100th anniversary festival of the pedestrian bridge linking Switzerland and Germany. What fun we had! Hotel Schiff is located right next to this bridge, so it was a perfect location to enjoy the party! Our room looked directly out to the Rhein River and across to Germany. Lovely little village-cobblestone streets and alleyways to explore. Inexpensive & easy 15 min train ride into Basel. Lovely view, nice litlle restaurant with an outdoor patio overlooking thr river, great staff, efficient, clean modern rooms for 1 or 2 night stay away from the hustle & bustle of the city.

I liked being close to the river.It was easy to walk the few blocks to catch the short ride into Basel.Breakfast was good.The hotel rate was fair for the region.On the negitive side there was no air conditioning,and the windows have no screens.Ask for a fan,although there is a limited number. Flying bugs can sometimes be a problem since the hotel is directly next to the beautiful river.Although there is a bridge 20ft from the hotel,cars can no longer use the bridge.We had to travel several miles out of the way to get to the hotel and this side of town.Parking is in a nearby garage at a daily extra rate.I would still say this was a decent,clean hotel at a beautiful river setting.
