The property has a great view of Eyjafjallajökull on a clear day and is within walking distance of the local grocery store: Krónan. Parking can be a challenge and is often full during the evening. I would recommend creating dedicated parking for guests who are spending the night there.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!!
This location was our FAVORITE of the 4 different locations we stayed during our recent trip to Iceland. We were a family of 5 and I was nervous about the bunk arrangement but it was PERFECT! The bathroom facilities provided privacy as well. But the BEST part of the location was the STAFF who were amazing! They were so friendly and clearly enjoy working together. The atmosphere is relaxing - we spend the evening playing cards in the main room and had a blast. The food was FABULOUS and FRESH. We even spent time speaking with the Chef. I would stay here again without hesitation and would highly recommend to anyone.

We stayed one night with our teenage son while touring the southern coast. It was great! The rooftop sauna and hot tub were a nice bonus, fun decor and very clean s quiet. I would have booked a hiking tour out of this hostel but didn’t consider it before we arrived.

Great place to stay! This is by far the nicest hostel I stayed in while in Iceland. The rooms are great- I love that they have privacy curtains on all the beds and huge lockers. The hot tub and sauna are a massive bonus, especially if you’re doing Fimmvorduhals and Landmannalaugar while you’re in the area. Showers and WCs are great, tons of them and roomy. Plus a small kitchen that gets the job done! Staff are also amazing, I couldn’t recommend this place enough!

Midgard is a very welcoming place. The rooms are comfortable and the hot tub with a view of the mountains is spectacular. The restaurant serves up tasty meals. What’s not to like?

Midgard was a great base for us as a stop off after some adventures a long the south coast, and off again to explore again the next day. We'd highly recommend this hotel for anyone either looking for someone to stop off, or even for a longer stay to base yourself for a few days. It is ideally located to easily reach all along the South Coast. We have a private room which was nicely decorated with good amenities, we ate at the hotel restaurant which we really recommend as the food was fantastic quality for the price (for Iceland prices). Finally the staff made us feel really welcome and the did everything they did to make us feel at home. The place has a really nice feel about it, and you can tell everyone enjoys being there. Oh.. and don't forget the roof top hot tub and steam room. A welcome retreat at the end of a long day.

Amazing! Modern rooms great facilities
Friendly staff! Booked room with private bathroom and the room was spacious and modern. Great facilities including a shared kitchen , hot tub sauna and laundry. For the kids there is a tv and foosball table in the lobby with a ps4 to entertain the kids. On site restaurant and bar as well. Family owned business with super friendly staff. Great location to get picked up by the bus at the nearby gas station to Thorsmork. Also a great resting stop as you drive along the southern coast. When we return to Iceland we will definitely return!

Friendly and helpful staff. We ate adventure burgers in the restaurant which were divine. We spent a nice hour in the hot tub (very hot) and in the morning we used the guest kitchen to make sandwiches and coffee for the day. Quirky!

Pretty popular place as both hostel and guest rooms. Large and modern common spaces to hang out and cook. Laundry for $10 total, one machine but it was available. Our private room was quite large. Didn't pay for breakfast, it looked fine, the Kronan down the road had some pastries and sandwiches for cheaper. 2 problems. The window curtains had huge gaps so it was very bright as soon as the sun came up. And horrible shower curtain so the water floods most of the bathroom, standard for Iceland.
