Excelente lugar, espacioso, cómodo y cerca de la playa que por cierto es súper privada, alejado del bullicio de Puerto centro, piscina pequeña pero perfecta para relajarse. En general definitivamente volvería al mismo lugar

Great place if have transportation

I liked the room very much, very spacious and good area, for value much better than the dumps I saw in the city center. the owner helpful and nice. The only problem is that the hotel is indeed about twice as far from the city center as indicated, so if you dont have transport its a long walk about 2:9 kms. each way. (can rent bikes but drom $6-8 daily) and during a large portion of the year it is advised not to swim due to strong rip tides. Also be advised the prices are very high for food in Costa Rica more than most countries in the world.

Functional & friendly!

Frederick (the owner) lives on site and was awesome. He is always around to answer questions and give you ideas. The room was very spacious and had everything we needed (medium size fridge, double hot plate, toaster oven, coffee pot) and everything worked. This place is NOT fancy, so if you are hung up on how things look, you should go elsewhere. There is no daily service, so you take care of your own trash, etc. We got the room with A/C for an extra $10/night. WIFI speed was not the greatest, but we made it work.

Good base but basic

The cabinas have a rustic sort of charm and are set in a nice and quiet part of Puerto Viejo. The owners are very friendly and the rooms very large and in general were clean however no housekeeping was done during our stay. The property is currently undergoing renovations and could do with a good tidying up. The facilities are fairly basic and it is further away from town then we first thought but BMGC was a good base to explore the area.
