Families should note that room doors aren’t toddler-proof and balconies could be unsafe for small children. Playa Mantas is nearby (parking can be tricky and costly). Playa Blanca requires additional fee and isn’t accessible through the hotel"

"Although the booking is advertised as Hotel Punta Leona, it is actually for Apartamentos Arrecifes rather than a room in the main hotel. This should be made clearer, as the apartments are farther away and require transportation, an important detail for families with young children or elderly travelers or anyone requiring a wheelchair. We also experienced a 40-minute delay at check-in because the room was not ready (partially compensated with a late check-out). Upon arrival, the apartment did not appear thoroughly cleaned, beach towels were missing, and the room phone was not working. Additionally, check-in takes place at the main hotel, about a 5-minute drive away on a poorly maintained road. The apartment includes a kitchen but lacks basic cookware. Air conditioning is limited to the bedrooms, while the living area only has ceiling fans. On the positive side, there is a supermarket within a short 2-minute walk."

"The staff was nice and helpful. The pool was great, the property was right on the beach and had beautiful sunsets. To get to town it was about a 20 minute walk along the beach. I like the history of the hotel. The room was absolutely amazing, breathtaking views, very spacious for a group of 5. The room we stayed in had 2 rooms and 2 bathrooms, washer/dryer, kitchens and plenty of space to enjoy time together in the evening. The porch was also great. "

"I had a great time! The beach was just across the street from the hotel and had a nightly appointment with the spectacular sunsets. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The included breakfast was big and made to order. I just booked my return trip to Costa Rica and will be staying there for another 2 weeks. Can’t recommend it more than going to stay for a second time. "
