Hotel Dekat Portuguese Bend Reserve

"It had a great vibe, was very clean, well appointed, was quiet and was in a great location, a quiet residential neighborhood. The hotel is right down the street from the Korean Bell which made for a very nice spot to watch the sunset. Cabrillo Beach and Aquarium is right down the street (within walking distance). "Perfect for the night before a cruise. Super comfortable rooms and beds. A few blocks from restaurants. Close to the passenger terminal. Friendly staff."

"The lady that checked us in was wonderful! Very friendly and helpful. We were really only there to sleep, but the air conditioner was so loud that it was hard to sleep. The noise was worse that taking off in an airplane... We did mention it at checkout and the (different) lady just said something like 'well, the system is really old...'"

"The beds were comfortable. The room rate was good. Everything was clean, except that I did see a bug crawling on the floor in the middle of the night. That was kind of gross. No other complaints."

"All painted surfaces and furniture in our room chipped and peeling, dirt and mold in corners of bathroom, socks dirty after walking around on floors, very long black hair in bathtub, surfaces felt tacky/sticky to touch. 3 pillows on king size bed, all of them very hard; slept poorly. Door didn't close tightly (but could lock it) and had large visible gap at bottom."

"We stayed here for a night before our cruise, the terminal was a 15-20 min drive from our hotel. The staff was super helpful, one of us forgot a tooth brush and the staff provided a new one! The hotel was clean and had a microwave. The breakfast buffet had all your usual things. The only negative I would say was the noise, our room was right next to the highway and there was traffic noise overnight. We did not mind this but it might be a concern for sensitive sleepers. I would book this hotel...

"Oldish rooms but comfortable beds. If you’re on the lower floor you’ll hear all the noise from the upper room(s). Good location nearby lots of shopping and food. "

"The room had an old, unpleasant smell that made the stay feel uncomfortable from the start. Unfortunately, the breakfast was the worst part of the experience. The pastries were hard and tasted stale, the waffle machine was broken, and the scrambled eggs and sausages did not taste fresh or good at all. Overall, the quality of the breakfast was very disappointing and did not meet expectations."

"It's a walk up facility, no elevator. If you're a senior with luggage for the cruise, there is a flight of stairs to struggle with. It's an inexpensive hotel within walking distance to Little Italy of LA where you can find Italian businesses. It is also within walking distance to cruise port and the USS Iowa battleship museum you can visit before boarding the cruise ship.
