"The Waring House offers a truly memorable experience, and it starts the moment you arrive. The grounds are impeccably maintained — lush, inviting, and clearly cared for with pride. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure every guest felt welcomed and well looked after. We stayed in the Quaker Lodge, which struck a perfect balance between modern comfort and historic charm. Our room featured a lovely balcony overlooking the Millennium Trail — an ideal spot to enjoy a quiet morning coffee or unwind in the evening with a glass of wine. Dining at The Barley Room Pub and Amelia’s Garden was a highlight. The food and drinks were consistently excellent, but what really stood out was the level of service. While we did notice occasional moments where the staff seemed stretched — something a few other reviews have mentioned — what impressed us most was how gracefully and kindly each team member handled it. Their calm professionalism and friendly demeanour turned any potential hiccup into a moment of connection, not inconvenience. "We enjoyed our stay at the Drake Devonshire and Motor Inn. Friendly and efficient staff at the Inn and restaurant made the stay pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable, nice amenities including a tablet to help search for things to do in and around the county. WiFi was available and worked, but a bit slow. WiFi being important since the cellular signals in the area was weak. We enjoyed breakfast (twice) and dinner at the inn. Quality, taste and presentation of the meals were excellent. As we drove over 360km in an Electric Vehicle (EV), the availability of EV charging stations was important. Use was on a first come first serve basis, which worked fine for us, however, one of the two EV charging stations was out of service, potentially making this a challenge if many visitors were at the Inn with EVs. The Inn is well located in Wellington, very close to a grocery store, sandwich, coffee and ice cream shops as well as some art and antique shops in the area. Overall a very positive experience."

"The CAPE was absolutely beautiful! Such a unique and gorgeous experience, completely different from any regular hotel. The rooms were stunning, just a perfectly maintained 200-year-old house full of character and charm. The breakfast was amazing, the service was excellent, and even the whole place smelled wonderful. Words can’t fully capture how special our stay was. I’ll definitely recommend the stay to anyone visiting Picton, and I’ll absolutely be back!"
