Val Rendena and the wilder Val Genova are the ideal destination if you love the mountains and outdoor activities. A holiday in Pinzolo is an excellent opportunity to spend a few days of total relaxation, away from the stress and routine of the big cities. The origins of this picturesque village are ancient, as evidenced by the San Vigilio Church, thought to have been built before 1000, although the present structure dates back to the sixteenth century.
The central emblem of Pinzolo is the elegant bell tower, the tallest in the Trentino area at 72 metres. Tourism in Pinzolo also has a long history: in fact the first hotel dates back to the late nineteenth century, when the area began to be frequented by climbers coming mainly from England and Germany. The real tourist boom, however, came after the war, with the creation of summer tourist facilities (tennis courts, football pitches, parks) and the first ski lifts to the Doss del Sabion. More recent are the Tulot cable car and the DoloMitica trail, one of the most challenging routes in the Alps. Summer in Pinzolo is a succession of events. From June to September, unmissable local festivals, cultural and gastronomic events are held in the area. For lovers of nature and authentic flavours, each week the tourist board offers excursions to the most beautiful mountain huts in the area, to enjoy polenta and cheese and other local produce. There are also countless opportunities for walks, from easy trails through the valley and the surrounding forests, pastures and alpine lakes, to more challenging hikes such as the spectacular Via delle Bocchette. Sport abounds here, and the Val Rendena is the perfect open air gym.
For hikers, the Val Genova is not to be missed, with its picturesque road train providing spectacular views of the valley and the nearby waterfall. Framed between the Adamello (south) and Presanella (north) ranges, the Val di Genova is also known as the valley of the waterfalls, of which there are many in the area. Near Pian di Bedolè you can admire the Adamello-Madron glacier, which covers an area of 18 square kilometres and is the most extensive in the Italian Alps. During the winter, Madonna di Campiglio, Pinzolo and Val Rendena are a real jewel of nature and morphology protected by the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park, the largest protected area in the region.
