I just spent about 25 days at the River Palace and I'm sorry to say but the overall experience was disappointing, the only good thing about this hotel is the staff, as most of Cambodians, they are very pleasing, however, at the management level, the hotel is very poorly run.
General Management simply doesn't care about guest satisfaction, or what it does to the Best Western brand as a whole, they even try to take advantage of foreigners. So you've been warned.
The impression that I left with is that the owner has lots of money to throw around and doesn't care about this business (since he owns the gas station next door) and doesn't even visit the place.
It's very sad because the hotel looks good, it's like a rough diamond desperately needing competent people to polish it.
Final but not less important, it's weird to have videos of the housekeeping lady on your gopro, that she made while going through your stuff instead of properly cleaning the room.
Sorry but I don't recommend it.
