"Lovely stay. Could look at the view from my apartment all day. Staff were lovely, breakfast delicious and the plentiful supply of veg from the garden made a amazing salads. The kids loved the pool overlooking the lake. Very relaxing with a good book. You do need a car and there isnt anything within walking distance. But Salo town is 5 minutes away, with delicious gelato, bars and restaurants. "

Few minor issues: water by the pool should be free / there should be a water dispenser; guests should be able to borrow an iron (never been to a hotel where this wasn’t possible); staff don’t understand the concept of ice coffee which we found strange. "This was a grand Villa, whch turned into a hotel in 1960. Everything is updated and beautiful. The grounds are gorgeous. Staff is wonderful. We loved our room. All was wonderful and I highly recommend. Just know that there is a 7 minute walk to the beginning of Salo's passeggiata."

"Amazing stay at Hotel Villa Dirce. Fantastic place, fabulous views over the lake and great staff. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived right to the end. Nothing was too much trouble. "Check-in is at the splendid hotel up the street. Once you check in, they drive you to Hotel La Palme in a golf cart. That was quite fun! Once we arrived, we realized that our room was facing the ferry dropped off. Eventually, we asked to move rooms and the front desk was exceptional at quickly transitioning us to the splendid hotel as there was a room available. The service from all staff was exceptional and the pool area was a welcome amenity in the heat of August. Be sure to take the breakfast option, as the buffet was quite exceptional.
