  • The Gem Theatre (previously known as Kinema Theatre, Hub Theatre) was built in 1909. In 1924, one of the reels of film got stuck in the projector and caught fire, igniting a full reel in the lower magazine. Only the outer shell of the theater survived the fire. The Kinema was rebuilt "as near fireproof as possible" and reopened in 1924. The Kinema Theatre was renamed the Hub Theatre in 1928. In 1933, the theatre was renovated and renamed it the Gem Theatre. After the advent of television, the theater could not attract large enough crowds to pay film rental fees. The Gem Theatre closed about 1986. The title of the last movie, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, remained on the marquee for ten years as the theater sat idle. Sometime after this the theater was again damaged by fire. Mark Childs, owner of Childs Construction, and his wife Heather, a retired dancer, purchased the Gem Theatre in April 2010, after moving to Panguitch from Henderson, Nevada.  After replacing the building's fire-damaged roof, the Childs rebuilt the Gem Theatre's interior and reopened it on 28 May 2011. #OnTheRoad

The bathtub was dirty and not possible to block the water in the tub to bath my kid. Otherwise the location is near Bryce Canyon so it's convenient if you want to make a stop before visiting Bryce Canyon.

Small but comfortable room. Certainly not luxurious, but everything worked properly and we had a convenient location to attend the Panguitch Valley Balloon Rally for my birthday getaway. Free breakfast with waffle maker, cereal, bread, muffins, juice & coffee. Check-in was very smooth, with no problems booking with my Expedia One Key credits. Appreciate that!

Price was very affordable. Bed was comfortable. Room was larger than expected. It was quiet and clean. The only issue I had is there was no hot water in the shower! The sink had hot water, so I’m not sure what was going on with that. The breakfast was about what I expected for the price of the room. Muffins, bread, cereal and make your own waffles. Several restaurants within walking distance.

We were happy to have a room that was fairly close to Bryce National Park. The staff were exceptionally friendly. It was great to have breakfast included before heading out to go hiking. Our room was clean and neat. For the price, it was adequate for our needs.

Bryce Canyon Visit

I give this room 9/10. Very affordable. Clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast included. The only thing is the toilet in my room was desperately in need of an upgrade and there has to be a better way to keep the curtains closed. I would absolutely stay here again.
