We were staying in town with our dog who we’ve never travelled with before. The laminate flooring in the “pet friendly” room was probably a good idea for a pet friendly room but it was disgusting! We paid $20/night extra for this room. I dropped my key under the bed and couldn’t believe how gross it was. Not only was it full of pet hair there were empty water bottles, a balloon, candy wrappers and just filth. The walls were all damaged and had drywall smeared on. The remote did t work for the TV and had electrical tape on it. The water never got hot for a shower. We stayed the first night because we had no other options and intended on finding something else the next. Unfortunately, there was no other available pet friendly rooms there or at any other hotels so after the event we had to attend was over (10:30pm) we packed up and drove home 5 hours through the freezing rain through the night. Be warned! I spoke to the young lady at the desk and made her aware we wouldn’t be staying. I wasn’t looking for a refund. She was very kind and remarked that she had had complaints. I also mentioned my experience to at least 5 other people at the event we were at in Owen Sound and they all said that this hotel is known to be a dump.

The price was right here but there were lots of details that were missing. There was hair and dust on the floor in the bathroom, no remote for the tv, no stir stick for the coffee and only enough to make one coffee, the cream had gone bad in the breakfast room and guests had to ask repeatedly for more coffee to be made. We would stay again because the bed was comfy and you could smell the clean sheets in the room when you walked in the room. And the price is good. But better attention to detail would really go a long way.

This was our first stay at Owen city and it was a quite city. Although the property did not have a lot of amenities but it was still a quite, clean and decent place to spend the night.

Unnecessary credit card fraud risk! Overall the hotel was fine; the room was clean, heater functioned, water sufficiently warm, breakfast was good with a waffle and fresh fruit. My concern was the check in process, where the desk clerk took my credit card and photocopied it. I asked why she did this, and was told they need a copy of my credit card to cover any damages or incidentals. I replied that every other hotel I have stayed in worldwide would create a temporary billing to cover this, where I would maintain possession of my credit card, using the handheld terminal to approve the temporary charge, which would be canceled upon check out. It’s 2024, in this digital age, there is no need to photocopy your guests’ credit cards. And now, I worry that the staff, their associates, or anyone going through the hotel’s garbage has my credit card info for making fraudulent purchases online. I will be writing to Travelodge head office to ask that none of their locations either take possession nor photocopy any guest’s credit card.
