"We had a lovely stay at Cuckoo Cottage and would happily return. The location is excellent for exploring the Peak District, with beautiful walks straight from the doorstep, including Lathkill Dale. "By far the staff team is the best thing about this hotel - friendly, helpful and attentive in just the right degree - advice: tip in cash - any tips added to a card bill do not get to the staff. Rooms: spacious, comfortable and spotless - a bit dated but hey, it's a classic building. Public areas: plush elegance - again a bit dated but comfortable and spacious although the position of the overly small bar causes problems getting to the restaurant at busy times. Restaurant: This was the big let down in terms of quality of food at dinner - both meals were overcooked and dried out - a pity because the restaurant is very well appointed and staff excellent. Breakfast was a little better but with tables too close to buffet (hot and cold), it was difficult to access and there are definite potential hazards. Parking: Additional charge of £5 per 24 hours is a bit if a scam (a lot of hotels seem to do this nowadays), especially having paid £326 for two rooms for one night B&B. Would stay again but would eat elsewhere."
