"We arrived to no one on the desk and had to go and find someone, who told us there was a big party that had rented out the adjoining restaurant, most of the hotel space, and that there would be loud music all night. We went up to the room to find it was a very hot loft room with one tiny window and no fan. I opened the window but it was too loud with partygoers and music....so we left. We didn't feel it would have been a restful night, and the complete lack of staff didn't make me feel we could ask to change rooms, request a fan or ask for a refund. The whole thing felt like they only really cared about the party venue, and that the hotel was simply an afterthought. I've never walked away from a hotel anywhere in the world, but this one just didn't feel right from the second we stepped in the door. I'm hoping it was just bad timing, but had I have known the entire area was already booked I wouldn't have bothered even trying. Bad communication, and limited...everything else. A real shame, as the surrounding area is lovely."

"I stayed just one night during a business trip to Maassluis and was taken there for lunch. The position of the hotel and the ambience were such that I decided to stay that night rather than driving to an over expensive and anonymous airport hotel at Schiphol. Check in was quick, efficient and friendly so that was a good start. My room was at the top of the hotel with original timbers exposed so full of character. I would say that with -5C outside the room and especially bathroom heating struggled to cope but I was warm enough. The restaurant and the view from the restaurant is amazing and just perfect for a bored traveller that hates eating alone. Ambience by the bucket load and an excellent menu. I settled for the four course set meal and it was excellent. The service could have been more attentive but they were very busy and once I had a large glass of merlot in my hand, I did not mind waiting patiently. Breakfast was also good and this is a hotel I would love to stay in again but I suspect that it will be fully booked in the holiday season. One of my favourite stays, and such a shame that Mrs Jones could not have been with me because she would have loved it."

Friendly service, pleasant hotel, lovely town

"I was staying at the hotel for business purposes and would have no hesitaiton in going back for holiday purposes. Given the general location (i.e. close to the largest port and industrial complex in Europe) the little town of Brielle is a magical haven with its narrow streets, varied buildings, magnificent church and range of shops & places to eat. The hotel gave me the friendliest possible reception, it had reasonable food and good beer, so was a perfect place to hide out after a hards day's work and a long journey."
