"I really loved this retro hotel on top of the mountainside. I had the mysterious looking onsen all to myself several times around 9-10 pm and it was so cool. The view is amazing and the food was very good. Just know that you are really in the countryside and to get to Onomichi it is going to take at least an hour using public transit. "It's 300 steps up (via the most direct, but tedious! route), but once you understand how to make it to the villa along the alleys that spread throughout the hill, life is so much easier! "Nice new Hotel in Setoda with a public bath (not Onsen) the staff was very friendly and always helpful. the rooms are very big but there’s only a shower booth in the room. Though you can use the hotels own public bath which was very nice. it’s somehow even tattoo friendly if you don’t have specific “japanese” tattoos. there are many local eateries and some stylish coffee shops nearby. rent a bike and explore the island or corss the bridge to Ehime pref. :) "
