The only complaint is that we booked through expedia. We showed up to find the staff decided to leave before the times listed on their site. We had no key, no way to check in and no one would answer either phones. Finally after about an hour and having to leave to catch the last ferry so we weren't stranded on the island with no where to stay, we got a call back. They said they did not book through third party sites and we had difficulty sorting it out. It ended with them telling us where we could access a key to a room, who knows if it's the one we paid for or not. The property listed a sauna, pool, etc. Although we weren't given any information on the amenities or where to find them or if they were even open. The property was clean, the bed in our room was broken and slanted down, we had to fix it to be able to use it. We were told someone would meet us the next morning, no one ever came. Property was beautiful. Staff needs some work. Breakfast was great and the lady who cooked was very sweet. Be sure to book through the actual company instead of through a third party to avoid the mess we went through!

It was great! We were supposed to stay two days and had an emergency at home so couldn’t stay the second day. We really liked the room and the hotel and plan to stay there the next time we come. Thanks do much!

Fall on the Outer Banks

We got to The Castle after the staff had left but they have a good system for welcoming late arrivals. We enjoyed the room and the excellent breakfast. Our room was cold but we didn't know about the extra blankets in a bureau drawer, so that information on the welcoming sheet would be useful. We definitely would return here.

Sorry to say we were very disappointed. We stayed in Katie’s room which smelled musty, moldy and like a public restroom (bad headache every night). We let the innkeeper know and asked if they had an alternate room or air purifier. They had neither. For three night stay housekeeping never came. I asked the innkeeper if housekeeping would come and response was “they should”. Asked for clean towels, never came. Had to seek out toilet paper. Breakfast was basic and good. Scrambled eggs, grits or potatoes, bacon and croissant or biscuits. Wouldn’t recommend the Castle B&B but loved the island.

Highly recommended

Beautiful English cottage, great location, excellent views from the window and terrace. Nice breakfast. Highly recommended. Only caution a lift would have helped. If you carry heavy luggage it's an effort to take it up to the room.

We found the Castle B&B on Silver Lake Harbor to be enchanting. The location was perfect for walking to dining and shops. The view of Silver Lake Harbor was beautiful. The Castle has character and the hosts were very accommodating. I highly recommend the Castle for anyone looking for the B&B experience on Ocracoke!

This property was VERY clean and our room was larger than what i originally thought from the photos on their website. We had a very relaxing weekend here.

The property is very nice and very convenient. Our room had absolutely no heat and we were very uncomfortable (except for a small space heater that we had to find for ourselves in a storage closet when we got there. Because our room was so poorly insulated we could also hear every noise and conversation in the adjacent rooms. Not great for a romantic getaway. The food was very mediocre. We enjoyed walking around Ocracoke but would definitely not go back in the winter since nothing was open and there was only one restaurant. We didn’t feel safe as no one on the island is wearing masks and the other (maskless) guests at the property took over the common areas and discussed politics very loudly all weekend. That should not reflect on the property but I will not stay at a B&B again.

The property is very interesting with its wooden walls and ceilings. We were given a very lovely room overlooking the waterfront. We felt right at home. The staff were very friendly! The view is lovely! The only negative thing is not the fault of the property. Because we went during the off season in February, there was only one restaurant open on the island. We would definitely return during the season.

Perfect quick trip away

Location of the B&B is perfect, walking distance to the Village and restaurants. Perfect pool in the back and wonderful top deck to have a cocktails late in the day. We sat on one of the back decks and where awed by the stars in the sky, take time to look up!
