"I very much appreciated the personal welcome, not just receiving access codes via a text. Janet, the manager, was very welcoming and exceptionally friendly. The room and the house were clean and had a warm flowery scent. I was lucky to have been given a room with a direct view to the sea. This made it even more pleasurable to sit in the armchair and drink my morning coffee and night drink. "We loved our two nights stay at Melfort House. It was peaceful idyll that restored us somewhat as we were nearing the end of our road trip through Scotland. The Pierrooms

10/10 Excellent

"Park in the railway station carpark. The accommodation building is first left in the carpark under the metal stairs. It's £24 for 24 hours parking but worth it as room and parking still is less than most accommodation in Oban which also do not have onsite parking. Onsite parking at hotels is rare to find in Oban and every where else's room rate is double almost, which is a lot more expensive. The location is perfect. I was on the ground floor. Noise not an issue and I went to bed at 11pm and woke at 9am. No disturbance through the night. I will be back."

"To charge these ridiculous prices for a below basic room is disgraceful. Toilet not clean hair on top of the toilet. Wifi kept dropping out. Hotel in desperate need of refurbishment but they are to interested in ripping you off. I stayed here about 6/7 years ago and it has most definitely got eorse"

"I enjoyed my stay. My room was tiny, and so was the bathroom, but everything was clean and comfortable. Shower had great water pressure. I thought the staff went the extra mile to be helpful, and to provide upgraded soaps and shampoo, coffee and tea, and a breakfast bag with water, pastry and an apple. Plus, you can eat and drink downstairs at MacGregors. I signed up for a whisky tasting which was really fun! Whisky, music and stories. Made for an enjoyable evening."

"Both elevators were out at one point, the staff couldn’t check me in even minutes earlier than the 3pm guideline,and the whole ‘meal thing’ felt weird about inclusions or exclusions. Pay to park (but only 10 pounds) for two nights - but still…great location for rail or ferry, but the staff couldn’t check use an upgrade. PS. Why are the damn hallways so narrow to your room? I could barely get by a maids cart…seems like the fire regulations would be wider. Narrowest I have ever seen in any hotel. Plus, the fire extinguishers are proud from the wall vs. set back.. something else to knock off on the way by. Not worth what I paid per night for sure."
