The room was okay. But the bathroom was gross. It smelled. And the shower head sprayed water everywhere. The worst thing about the hotel was that it was soooo loud. There was an annoying loud noise outside our window, the whole night! And also this buzzing sound from inside the hotel, we were on the same floor as the pool—maybe there. I couldn’t figure it out. But I couldn’t sleep all night!

Disliked: Staff & service
Physical plant is okay, but service is terrible
The physical infrastructure of this hotel is in okay shape (but not great shape). Where the hotel really disappoints is in service. The staff are not well trained, and systems are not in place for reasonable performance. Our check-in process was confusing, where they found my name and booking in their system, and then 5 minutes later asked me if I was sure that I booked at Araliya Green Hills. I ordered a boxed breakfast to take on my early morning hike, but they forgot to put it in. The front desk staff later explained to me that they put in the order, but the kitchen staff messed up. When I asked for it at 5am, instead of simply saying "sorry, the food isn't ready", the staff wasted 10 minutes of my time interrogating me about who did i put the order with, what did I order etc, to try and make the case that I must have forgotten. Luckily I had taken a picture of the written order, and that finally got the staff to stop wasting my time. I won't write more, but there were more incidents like this, which all signaled untrained, unprofessional staff. i think they are trying to run the hotel on a low budget, without properly training staff.
There are many other hotels in Nuwara Eliya with much better views and better location. I would strongly recommend staying at one of those instead. Maybe pick a boutique hotel on a hillside if you can. Araliya Green Hills is only worth it if you are paying no more than $80 per night.
Staff were we helpful and polite property was clean , meals were good will stay in in that hotel again .

would not let me leave property after check out process was complete until they checked the room. this should have been completed when customer requested to have checkout paperwork ready.
The hotel was clean and tidy but the service left much to be desired.
We were asked to wait for our welcone drinks and then go to our room, the welcome drink never arrived, so we decided to head to our room. I told reception to send our bags to our room as we did not want to wait any longer for our welcome drink. We had to wait for 30 minutes for the concierge to call and check if we were in the room to send the bags up.
There was also no follow through on anything. For example we were told on our arrival that there was an al a carte restaurant on site. When we came down for dinner, we were told by the front desk manager that there was a private funtion, but could head up to the bar for dinner instead. There was no staff member there - we had to ring reception for someone and was then told that we could not eat there because it was a bar. We had to explain how we ended up at the bar, and it took almost 45 mins just to order and we were the only ones there. We never got water glasses to drink our large bottled water.
We also misplaced my phone charger. While it had been found, it took a whole day, about 8 phone calls and me standing at reception to have it returned. I was constantly told it would be sent to my room but it never came and every time i rang i had to repeat the story and/or would get passed around.
While its clean and tidy, i wouldnt recommend staying there. Help isnt easily available.
My wife and I returned to Araliya Green Hills Hotel after our very pleasant first stay back in 2018. The staff is very friendly and helpful in every way possible and they try their best to make your stay a very pleasant one. The rooms are super clean and tidy and the food is amazing. There’s a huge variety of food to choose from, not to forget the great variety of artisanal teas. A special thanks goes to Mr. Sampath (F&B manager), Mr. Pavindu (Chef) and Mr. Krishnan (server) for making our stay a very memorable one. Five stars from the Fernandos! Keep up the good work!
Probably new property that's why they are trying recover cost with different ways. I booked through expidia with full details of the guests for whom the room was booked. On my arrival it was told to me that I have to pay additional 18 USD as child meal was not included in the price. I failed to understand how it happened? Never heard any where this kind of system. On the basis of age and the number the of the guests the price was quoted but they further collected additional USD 18 from me. So, at the time of booking please double check about everything otherwise any one may end up paying extra amount.
The hotel was really good and service was acceptional from the reception staff. The room nice, however the view was facing another hotel and court yard, so you couldn’t look out of the window to admire the views. Also the hearing in the room wasn’t all that it kept cutting off every 5 minutes and coming back on as it was really cold that evening and I was suffering from a cold it would have been nice to be in a warm room.
Overall, this hotel was great. The rooms were clean, has a nice small heated pool, and great fitness area. Large selection of food at breakfast, overall good options. Staff is very friendly throughout the hotel. My spouse had a good massage, unfortunately my experience at the spa was not very good. Nearby, there are some beautiful gardens at Victoria Park as well as a small one hear and at the Grand Hotel behind this hotel. Waterfall, botanical gardens and several tea plantations an easy drive from the hotel, however the drive to get to Neuwara Eliya is not for the faint of heart. Good wifi at the hotel but a few random short power outages during our stay.
The hotel staff was very friendly and courteous from day one. The food selection was very good and our room was very clean. Any of our requests to the front office was handled immediately. Mr. Manoj Raj at the dining area was so friendly and helpful to us and made our breakfast and dinner a very pleasant experience. I am sure the other hotel staff members are the same. All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience for my wife and I and I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a getaway to enjoy peace and tranquility in the hill country.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Hotel Close to the City-Sri Lankan Experience
We reached the hotel in the late evening by our van.Staff in the hotel geeted us and served hot chocolate.I would rather prefer a very strong tea as Nuwara Eliya tea is famous as the tea grown at high mountain. We booked a super deluxe room and it was in 2nd floor. The room was clean but the interior was quite old fashioned.Bathroom was very neat and clean. We stayed 2 night in that hotel.Though the breakfast had a quite variety and we tried most of them but could not get a feeling of Sri Lankan food. However the I liked sambal and sambar (made of fresh vegetables) very much.We ordered room service and the foid was horrible though they served well.It is nicely located to reach city and to other areas but we felt the money we spent for two night is not of worth.I would still recommend this hotel if somebody is staying for one night. They need to be competitive in relation to the pricing.Improvement needed for the breakfast.I forgot to mention the banana cake was a bit hard and felt like not fresh.
Hervorragendes Abendessen und guter Service im Restaurant. Das Restaurant ist aber leider im Untergeschoss und daher vom Ambiente nicht wirklich schön.
Good location and well behaved staff
The hotel is very expensive compared to quality of services . I would rate it 3 star level. The bed is not comfortable and the toilet is very old fashion. The breakfast and dinner was not up to my expectations
Got off to a bad start – ‘your booking is for tomorrow sir and anyway Expedia have cancelled the booking’. Resolved quickly by producing the (already paid) Wotif confirmation but no apology.
Everything thereafter was ‘good’. Location quiet and secluded but ten minutes walk to the centre of Nuwara Eliya, comfortable rooms, prompt and attentive service, reasonable and reasonably-priced food, etc. But atmosphere – generally and especially in the horrible bars – was a bit charmless (this may have something to do with the fact it was an Arabic hotel and their décor was simply not to our taste – certainly that could explain the bars).
