Hotels in North Pacific Beach, San Diego

"I want to preface this by saying that the hotel itself seems decent, but our specific experience was marred by the room we were assigned. We were given a room that appeared to be a converted former office. Unlike the other rooms, ours was located outside of the gated/locked area of the hotel, which felt incredibly unsafe given that the hotel is on a busy main street. The Room Issues: • Safety & Noise: Being right on the sidewalk meant we had immediate street noise and people yelling right outside our door all night. • The Lighting: The hotel’s neon sign is bright and flashes like a disco/rave. The blinds provided did absolutely nothing to block it out; we actually had to hang our own blankets over the windows just to get the room dark enough to sleep. • Maintenance: The room needs basic TLC. The carpet felt dirty and outdated, and the bathroom door rubbed the frame so badly it was difficult to open and close—it definitely needs to be shaved down. The Silver Lining: The rest of the amenities weren’t bad. The kitchen was functional and well-equipped, and the shower was stocked with soap and shampoo dispensers. Summary: The staff informed us they had no other rooms to move us to, but frankly, this specific room should not be offered to guests in its current state. It lacks the security and soundproofing of the rooms within the gated portion of the property. If you stay here, ensure your room is actually inside the main hotel area."

"Beach was 5 min walk in total from room to actual beach. Parking is limited but it’s there. "

"We arrived and the floor we were place on was under construction. Loud music, banging etc. the room was so bad. Mold, broken floors, dirty, the toilet wasn’t attached to the floor, the sink didn’t work, plumbing didn’t work correctly, A/C didn’t work, fridge didn’t work. No clock, no phone in the room… I could go on but I was shocked for what we paid for this room. We asked for another room and were told none were available but if we left they’d refund the remainder of our stay (4 more days). We arranged with VRBO and they agreed to the refund as well but after leaving and settling else where PB Surf refused the refund. This room was not safe or livable. It should have been included in the remodels and not been rented. Absolutely disgusting in so many ways. Only benefit was the location. "

"Great location for places to walk to, such as the beach, restaurants, bars, coffee places, etc. The only complaint I really have is that the air conditioner was exceptionally noisy. Otherwise, great experience for a budget friendly location only one block from the beach!"

"Very friendly staff! So grateful they were flexible with check-in as my flight got delayed. Big kitchen; bagels and cream cheese for breakfast. Note that there is only one bathroom (shower included, so it's not possible to have one person shower while another uses the bathroom) for the dorm of 14 people. I never had an issue conflicting with anybody, but just know that there's only one bathroom. There are 2 sinks outside the bathroom, though."
