This property is beautifully located right on the beach. It is however a much older clientele. We felt out of place as two younger travelers. I would choose an airbnb that is near the city center if you are younger. The people that were enjoying the property looked very happy and the place is spotless!

Wonderful family weekend.

Wonderful hotel in the heart of Nerja and on the beach. Staff couldn’t have been nicer. Everyone a joy to deal with. Offered Cava on arrival and a complimentary shower/changing room as we didn’t leave the property until 6.00 pm. Highly recommend. Spotless, lovely decor, fantastic setting.

Our first time at the Riu Monica, we were not disappointed, very friendly staff who were all keen to help. Excellent location alongside the beach, a short stroll into the main old town of Nerja. Good food options with buffet breakfast and dinner. Drinks very reasonably priced.

Excellent Hotel and Lovely Location

Excellent hotel in a lovely location, handy for the beach or walking into Nerja town. Very friendly, helpful staff and very good choice and qaulity of food in main evening restaurant and beach bar for snack menu. We loved the day trips to Mijas, Malaga and Frigliana....Grenada trip next time for us, as on day we arrived and left....

A Lovely stay at the Rui Monica

I had a lovely 2 week stay at Rui Monica. The staff were very friendly , Food delicious lots of choice, very good entertainment in the evenings. So easy to get to the beach front from Hotel. I had a little accident were I fell and the staff were amazing so kind, caring and helpful. Antonio the manager was lovely. Thank you all for your kindness and help.

Great stay

Everything was great. The buffets fantastic, the gym & pool area great, the room was spacious. Entertainment was fun. We did the a la carte menu one night. It was fine but actually the buffet is better. But what really stands out is the staff. Friendly, helpful.... can not say enough about it. Great stay and would recommend.

Very friendly staff and clean rooms. The house keeping staff were excellent and always say hello when passing in the halls. However no real service around the pool and you have to get up early to secure a lounger. Beds on the beach which don’t belong to the hotel are never available.

Overpriced

Overpriced, took an hour to check in because the booking wasn't on the system so if U book last minute as we did U have to wait. Food was awful. Definitely not a 4 star hotel , for €250 a night I expected a lot better. Delay to check in and the fact the pool closed at 6:30pm meant we had 25mins at the pool, was dirty, tissues floating in it. Pool bar shut at 6pm, guy was pretty rude when I enquired about getting a drink. Staff in the restaurant were pleasant.

Staff mostly excellent except for two evening staff near the coffee machine who rushed too quickly to clear the tables even before the meal was finished and broke the atmosphere among new friends. Everyone else was excellent.

We liked the position of the hotel as it is out of the centre of Nerja but is less than a10 minute walk into the centre. The hotel accommodation was very good and the bed was very comfortable. There was entertainment each evening was usually of a good quality. Not all of it appealed to us but we enjoyed some good acts. The food was very good in the main hotel restaurant and there was always something different in the buffet. It was disappointing to have to pay for the use of the room safe as free use is a standard in most decent hotels nowadays. It would be nice to have the option of some activity around the pool during the day as otherwise it is quite a boring atmosphere. We ended up hiring sunbeds on the beach most days which was much more entertaining.

We love RIU Monica and Nerja

We always enjoy our stay at RIU Monica. It is very easy to arrive by car, plenty of room in front of the hotel to arrive then find a parking spot or use hotel parking lot. I really enjoy room with a balcony, rooms and the hotel are very, very clean. Gym has a few bikes, rowing machine, eliptical, treadmill, and a few weight machines. There are so many great spaces inside and outside the hotel. Both breakfast and dinner are excellent, you can sit outside over the ocean (by heaters if needed). The restaurant staff is incredible, very professional. This is adults only hotel. Also, it is an easy hour drive to the Alhambra (drive up and spend a night at Aurea Washington Irving, also very easy to pull up and take your time to get in and staff will park your car for $25 a night, you can easily walk to Alhambra from hotel). We are usually in Nerja in January, weather is generally 60s and sunny, water temp is also around 60 so swimming is not too bad. We are in our mid 60s and are very active, this hotel really suits us well.

Overall the hotel is very nice, the buffet was good with several options. The room A/C was blowing cold air, the problem was that the fan did not have enough power to adequately cool the room.

Sadly the sunbeds seem to be reserved often not occupied, it needs to stop all the best areas taken so early, I even went down at 8.30am to try get a good spot but no luck
