Fern Canyon is in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park in Humboldt County, California. The trail through the canyon is a short, easy walk with several stream crossings. During peak season, boards are conveniently placed across the stream. Ferns found here include California polypody, deer fern, licorice fern, and western sword fern. The fern most abundantly draping the walls of the canyon are western maidenhair ferns.
Fern Canyon is in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park in Humboldt County, California. The trail through the canyon is short and flat with planks conveniently placed across the stream during peak season. The trail loops up stairs to follow the canyon from above, as shown in the photo. Accessing the nearest parking lot requires your vehicle to cross a stream. #nature
