"Tania and Andy were excellent hosts. They were incredibly helpful with all our needs (especially getting taxis) and very responsive. The space is kept up very nicely. Probably the best highlight of the room was the shower! All of the amenities were exactly as advertised as well. Convenient location in Central Habana so that you can walk to some places down the main (and well-lit in the evening) road, we always felt 100% safe and were for the most part not pestered like in Old Habana. "I will say I was surprised by how modern the apartment was. It’s very modern, has all the amenities that I was used to. The living room was well decorated and the kitchen had everything I needed. "The people are absolutely nice! The listing has a number of misinformation. 1. It says property is connected to a Shopping Centre, no! It's a residential house with rooms to rent. 2. The room I had booked was a room with pool view but the one given had no view at all. If you open, you get to see wall, if you want air-conditioning, none. The listing also says you get the whole property to yourself, no, you just get a room with no room amenities at all. Food is okay, breakfast was good."

"Sublimely extravagant boutique hotel. We have stayed in many luxury hotels and few boutique hotels and El Candil is by far the most amazing experience (yes it's not a stay it's an experience) we have ever had the pleasure of. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming and there is nothing they won't do for you. Arranging tours, transfers and great advice. Attention to detail is in every aspect of your experience. We were treated to a roof top terrace with only one other guest. A barman/server and two chefs! We felt like Royalty. Fresh cocktails made to order and beautiful food made fresh to order whilst soaking up the relaxing atmosphere of the private (for guest) roof terrace. The room is beautifully decorated,again with attention to detail in everything. The bed, bedding and pillow are sumptuous. We can't recommend El Candil enough our only regret was not booking this hotel for our entire stay in Havana. We will definitely be back and cannot recommend the hotel and it's staff enough. "
