A Cumbrian castle built on original Roman foundations in Ravenglass overlooking the River Esk. Privately owned by the Pennington family for over 800 years it has a beautiful interior with a magnificent library, and most notably Himalayan Gardens. A fab place to visit on the Cumbrian coast. The grounds are dog friendly and you can watch the outdoor bird of prey display with your dog.

Eskdale walks from Eskdale campsite. A great place to pitch your tent. We took a 3km walk from the campsite, 1 1/2 hr moderate difficulty with a 20 Minute uphill ascent, through mine ruins and taking in a beautiful Tarn at the top.
