Feels like I stayed at the Grand Budapest Hotel 50yrs past its prime, cold salt water showers, ageing building. Looks good first impression but quickly wears off.

Ofräscha rum med icke fungerande toalett och badkar. Trasigt golv. Inget varmvatten i duschen. Kontrollen för air condition var borta. Kall pool. Dåligt utbud på dryck och mat. Hissen fungerade inte. Det tog 45 minuter för att checka in, då rummet inte var klart när incheckningstiden började. Kvinnan i receptionen tittade nonchalant på sin telefon när jag berättade att rummet skulle vara städat tills att incheckningen öppnade. Till detta hör också att vi var de enda boende på hotellet, vi förstår varför.

Incredibly pleasant and helpful staff. Great location with incredible views. Ability to take stroll along early mornings or evenings. Indian Ocean few feets away, so calming and constantly at your service providing the perfect cool down. Beautifully maintained public pool for your use.

This is the worst place you will ever visit. Terrible, old, dirty, nothing works and won’t refund. Their whole collection have terrible reviews. Theyhad issues from cold to hot water, flooding and non working amenities. We had to leave the next day as we couldn’t stay one more day. They still charged us alot of money for a physical key that we lost while looking for another hotel then refused to refund close to $700. The manager refuses to respond to Expedia emails for refund. They honestly don’t care. The place is rundown with a dirty pool and they refuse to get ingredients for meals. Their menu is handwritten and one guy cooking everything and serving. No wonder only 2 rooms were booked when we stayed.Stay here at your own risk!

There were lots of issues in the hotel: the AC was not cooling, there was no internet, old bedsheets/towels, no phone, bread was served with a fly, etc. So we complained to the management, and they accommodated us in their other hotel, Cocoa Luxury, with a premium room and a complimentary extended stay for 4 hours. I feel this hotel needs a complete change.

⸻ Complaint Regarding Our Stay Upon our arrival, we discovered that our reservation had not been registered, and the hotel staff could not find our booking in their system. After some time, they assigned us a random room. However, we had booked a room with two separate beds, while the room we received only had one bed. The room was also much smaller than the one we had reserved and had not even been properly prepared for arriving guests. Although the staff eventually provided an extra bed, there were still several other issues that were never properly resolved. The air conditioning was not working, the TV remote control was missing, and despite the room being occupied by two people, we were provided with only one small bottle of water, one cup, and one drinking glass. The air conditioning was eventually repaired, but the remaining issues were not addressed despite us repeatedly asking the staff for assistance. In the end, we even had to purchase an additional bottle of water ourselves for 400 KES. Overall, our experience with both the hotel staff and the level of service was extremely disappointing. The service was unprofessional, and the standard of the accommodation did not match what we had booked or reasonably expected. We believe this experience fell well below acceptable standards and would appreciate that this complaint is taken seriously.

Before booked this hotel please think about more than 10 times I don’t want be disappoint like us ,the room is never clean at all,the bathroom room dirty,the toilet not flush,the toilet seat loose,the floor is damaged ,the fridge is dirty. In case of the issue of the room we changed 3 rooms but all the same.but one fact the staff member look friendly I don’t know why the job was not done.

Remarkable historic building with large rooms and spacious cool lounges, balconies and interior in Moroccan riad style. Staff were delightful (thank you Lilian for arranging so much our trip!), food delicious (thank you chef Bukari!) including breakfasts and dinners overlooking the beach and ocean. Amazing location with nice pool and in the right area for enjoying the ocean while exploring Mombasa. Unfortunately, however, the owners have neglected the building has been very neglected with the lovely fountains without water, everything dusty, towels with holes, etc. Lack of cleanliness / clearing food causes flies in the dining area. It's a real shame because this is a gem of a place. The owners need to give it the love that their staff do.

Cocoa Boutique Hotel has a lot going for it, especially its exceptional staff. A special thank you to Josephine, the receptionist/supervisor, who truly stood out. She is gentle, pleasant, and an excellent problem solver who immediately puts guests at ease. Josephine demonstrates true leadership skills (and the outlook of a professional). The made to order breakfast was also well-received. Yummy! Our initial room had a few minor issues that would have affected our overall enjoyment. However, the situation was handled quickly and fairly—Josephine and the General Manager offered us an upgraded room that exceeded our expectations. Much appreciation as well to Joshua, who handled our luggage with great care. The new room was absolutely exquisite. That said, the hotel itself is showing its age and could benefit from some repairs. Many pieces of furniture are quite worn. Still, the property has tremendous potential. I especially loved all the breezy, comfortable areas to sit and relax. The ocean-view balconies are a highlight—one evening, I even spotted a camel walking along the beach from our balcony, which was a fun and memorable surprise. The beach itself has a lot of seaweeds but there were still good swimming spots. Overall, this hotel is a hidden gem. With a little TLC, it could easily be restored to its former glory.

This is an older property, so there are some things that are not perfect. I would stay here again with no hesitation and actually would prefer this over a fancy hotel any day because I like the peace and quiet. We stayed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights. There was no crowd and no loud music. Again, perfect for me. The entire area was clean and safe. Parking was secure. The place is well off the main roads, so there is zero noise from traffic and the only foot traffic is on the beach. Very safe. This hotel is pretty far away from the other hotels, so the beach area was always quiet. The people who sell things are all around the other hotels. Walking distance if you want to see it, but we didnt have to deal with them non-stop, so we were able to relax. A/c was good, but we left the windows open and were very comfortable day and night (Early March). Maybe it was just the time of year, but we didnt see 1 mosquito. No screens on the windows and our bed didnt have a mosquito net....but we didnt need them either. We were on the top floor, beach side. Wifi was enough to check email, but not good enough for social media or streaming. Buy a mobile data package if you need it. SafariCom worked well for us. The hotel food was good and the staff was great. Zero complaints. Roberto's Italian restaurant is a must and is only a couple minutes away by car.

Vi kjøpte oss en uke på et 4.5 stjernes hotell og forventet oss en uke med høy standar, her betalte vi en del mer for å få dette. Hotellet er overhode ikke et luksus hotell. Om 3 stjerner så er jeg snill. Rom 1: skittent og ødelagt møbler, ingen terrasse og klagde på dette. Fikk nytt rom med oppgradering, hjalp veldig på at terrasse var inklusivt, fortsatt slitent og dager uten varmt vann. Seng: ekstrem harde. + meget god renhold service med skifte av håndkle og i stand gjørende av rom både morgen og kveld, meget bra:-) Resepsjon : meget hyggelig og bra service. Svømmebasseng : ålreit område og rent vann, leite etter madrasser og håndkle for å legge seg på sol seng burde en ikke trenge. Resturant : noen middager var uspiselige, andre var himmelsk, de 2 middagene som var uspiselige var så dårlig at lammekjøtt var seigt, trevlete og ille, fikk noen kyllingretter som var fantastiske. Servering personal: ei som gjorde oppholdet som et eventyr og var på jobb kveld/dag for så å ha fri et døgn. Det andre døgnet var helt tragisk i forhold til ei som bare var til stede og ga faen i jobben. Servering ved bassenget var kun hun som gjorde oppholde som et eventyr som gjorde. Hotel eier: hyggelig fyr, som har tatt over hotellet for noen uker siden, fikk en hyggelig prat og jeg tror virkelig at over noen måneder er det store forandringer og et bedre sted å bo sånn miljø/service Anbefaler de å senke prisen til 3 stjerner pris i området så en får riktig hotell til rett pris

If you appreciate nonstop ocean views, clean/air conditioned rooms, helpful/gracious/professional staff, great food and a nice ocean breeze…you will love this resort. There was a view of the Indian Ocean from every step I took on the property (including both rooms I had) other than the wash room and the elevator. There are open sitting rooms and balconies on each floor that offer comfortable seating and more views of the Indian Ocean. If you require more…you can sit in the lobby, on the patio or at shaded tables on the lawn. The exchange between the ocean and the resort is so engaging and uninterrupted, I completely forgot the busy/noisy streets of Mombasa were a couple of hundred meters away. I came for a week and stayed two. The staff is: friendly, courteous and professional. The management is: available, interested, engaged and helpful without being intrusive. I could not have asked for more.

The view to the beach is the only thing nice about this place. Bathroom was dirty nothing modern towels dirty walls dirty. Flies all over during breakfast. Only stayed cause all other places were booked.
