"The rooms themselves were great and the breakfast was delicious. However, there is a shared kitchen which is available to prepare any other meals…it is not in good condition at all and needs some serious TLC if the space is to be offered for guest use. For example the oven is FILTHY, the sink is perpetually full of used, dirty dishes and cutlery/crockery/glasses/cookware all need to be upgraded/replaced. I think the shared space is a great idea, but it has to be drastically improved to reflect...

"This is the best place to stay in Pietermaritzburg! The location is perfect for anyone affiliated with the university - literally across the street. You can have breakfast and supper - both excellent - and the hosts are extremely hospitable and helpful. We arrived with a flat tire, and Gys helped us get a new car the next morning. I have seldom experienced a home away from home as warm and welcoming as Ridge on 79. "

"Check in was a problem they didn't know about my stay.... I had to email booking confirmation. Shower room is too tiny, only one bath towel. Air-conditioner not working... Breakfast setting is a joke 😭😭 juice is warm, their quality of is really disappointing.... The noise.... The pool area is too close to the room I was in and the conference room oh my word the noise from the people using these facilities, the sheets and towels are not changed. Absolutely incredible — a wide selection of fresh juices, fruit, freshly baked croissants, and cheeses that are simply to die for. Highly recommended!"

"Excellent unit with all amenities. A true home away from home and more. Staff are super attentive and ever obliging to assist to make your stay as comfortable and stress free as can be. Self catering units so you can prepare your own or they have an onsite restaurant/room service menu for the lazy days. Breakfast was superb with great options and well presented. The pleasure of having a “to go” option for early starts was really a blessing. The ambience and decor of the establishment was well thought of and blends in with the surrounding environment yet modern and attractive. Units are super clean and spacious. Location is perfect between Michaelhouse school and Nottingham road so makes travelling to either section a breeze. Once again a big thank you to the staff who made our stay so comfortable. We will most definitely be booking there again for our next visit to the area. Well done to all at the resort. "
