"This is a "self-check-in" lodge in the woods, easy to miss the dirt road leading to the property. The property does not have a sign saying "Hideaway lodge", it simply has the house number labelled "private property". You simply go in the lodge, at the appointed check-in time (NOT earlier!... of course the door in unlocked). Guests receive email with instructions but we did not get an email so we just showed up hoping someone will help us. The cleaners were very nice enough to help us. We enjoyed our stay. The place is very clean and comfy. We shared bathroom with the room next to us but no big deal. We had issues with the gas stove on our 2nd night but the ownner was quick enough to send a repair guy. Besides, there was a back up electric stove top available. Kitchen was well stocked. We were allowed to cook our meals as long as we cleaned up. The cleaners came everyday to clean bathrooms and replinesh supplies. We stayed for 3 nights and have no complaints."
"This turned out to be one my favourite vacation stays ever!
The town of St Anthony is small and doesn’t have a lot of modern facilities but it has character. The Silver Horseshoe is a perfect example. The stone faced building beckons you in with the charm of an old friend. It’s history is fascinating and the two brothers who own the hotel provide an experience that is so unique. When I visited, they were busy updating the dining area, so I was given a room with everything I needed to prepare my own breakfast. A lovely clean bathroom with all the bits and bobs that you could ever need, and a super comfy bed.
The guys are charming hosts and you can tell that they take pride in the quality of their service. Great value for money and a perfect way to start my roadtrip. Outstanding!!"
"The family room was great! It was super clean. We had been traveling for almost a week, and this was truly a wonderful, restful stop. We were going to go out and explore, but the room was so comfortable, we decided to break our “no tv” rule and just relax and watch tv (there were 3 in our suite).
It had great ac. Wonderful, true blackout curtains, and a FULL SIZED fridge! We grabbed a few groceries from a supermarket about a block away and just enjoyed our night!!! Thank you!"
"Lodge not quite what we were hoping for based on previous great reviews. The lodge itself is very charming. It was clean and decorated nicely. We knew how far away it was from Yellowstone, but the drive between was not ideal. The roads into the community where the lodge is located are extremely bumpy, gravel/dirt roads.
The biggest concern for us right away was safety. Although there is a front door with a door knob and deadlock, the deadlock is not functional at all - there is no bolt, nor a hole in the frame for it to go into. The doorknob lock is not secure whatsoever- we were literally able to jiggle the doorknob and open the door because the door is not set properly and tightly into the frame. You can see daylight peeking in around the door. When I called about the broken deadlock, he informed me that actually all the doors in every lodge was like that because they replaced the doors, but there are not holes in the frames for the bolts.
I was only semi-scared about safety from other people since it’s so secluded, but I was SUPER concerned about safety from bears. This is grizzly country and everywhere we go we see education about not leaving food out in cars or in cabins, and making sure your cabin is locked and secure. A door would have taken this door down in about 1 second. The man I spoke to confirmed there are absolutely bears in the area, but stated they had never had a problem with them in cabins. Didn’t make me feel much better at all."
"Great cozy cabin tucked away in a peaceful setting, yet close to plenty of dining options. A perfect balance of comfort and convenience. Highly recommend!!"
