Selborne Hotel

"First of all, if this hotel has a star, it is the biggest star โ€“ Christina at the reception. If I evaluate the hotel on different parameters: 1. In terms of price-performance, it is a very good hotel. 2. The rooms have been made as nice as possible, given the materials available โ€“ 6/10. 3. They could have used towels that look whiter and more vibrant. 4. Since I am in the corner room at the end of the building, it is very difficult to balance the hot and cold water. But now I will tell you the most important part. Apart from the physical characteristics of this hotel โ€“ which is in a very old building โ€“ our experience of staying here has been wonderful. The staff is the most helpful and warm-hearted team I have ever seen. They take care of you directly at every moment, and they do not do this because they work in the service industry โ€“ they do it genuinely from the heart. Thank them a hundred times for me. I wrote my negative notes above so that you do not experience disappointment when setting your expectations. Would I go again? Absolutely, yes. If the same team were at another hotel, would I go? Absolutely โ€“ I would follow this team. Also, as a bonus, there is a very nice pub downstairs. Do not forget to go there and have a beer for me."

10/10 Excellent
"We've just had a very pleasant and very relaxing 3nights at Amalinda Lodge. Stunning location, impeccable service from the warm and welcoming arrival to our jungle drum call out for dinner! The rooms are all privately spaced out and have beautiful views. Thanks to the housekeeping ladies for helping us celebrate my husband's 60th with their thoughtful hand made card and decorations. The beds have electric blankets which was much appreciated for the cold winter air! Every member of staff was superb and excellent in their roles - attentive but not intrusive. Special shout out to Kevin who is unbelievably knowledgeable and interesting to talk to and with whom we had an unforgettable rhino experience in The Rhodes Matopos National Park. The lodge is wonderful, something for everyone, whether it's relaxing by the pool with Zeph, going for an early morning run around the concession or doing one of the many activities self drive or guided. It's a great location to explore The Rhodes Matopos National Park, don't miss the Nswatugi Cave art, the World's View Rhodes' Grave site (at sunset) or on the other side in the Game Park, the hippos in Chitampa Dam, the the Mother and Child rock formation."

"This lodge is really beautiful and calm. Our cabin was large, clean and comfortable. The bar and pool area were great, and the meals were very good. The staff were excellent, particularly the restaurant and bar staff. The game drive was expensive as the rate recently went up by 50%. There are some short hikes that you can do around the lodge which are nice."
