Ad Deir ("The Monastery") is the largest and one of the most impressive rock-hewn structures in the city of Petra. Most visitors to Petra come to see El Khazneh ("The Treasury"), made famous by the movie "Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade". Many fail to realize how massive the city is, however, and miss out on the wonder of The Monastery. At the far end of the archaeological park, climb the roughly 800 steps to the top (or take a donkey) and be rewarded by magnificent views and a glass of Bedouin chai (tea).

"This was very nice, thank you very much!! 20mn from sphinx international airport which was very handy for us to fly the day after. Inside all is a super new, but most nice is the 1st class service of this family serviced apartment. Arranged us food delivery in evening that she even brought it to the room. No really that was very nice to be. Only regret is to have been only one night. I would have found them before, i would stay at least 2 nights to rest more and make maybe a laundry."

"The hotel was beautiful, clean and the customer service was impeccable! They made sure our stay was excellent. From the receptionist Coline, to the Director of rooms Assem, housekeeper Kelum and the wait staff in the Shang Palace Christine and every single staff were very polite and friendly! We had the best time!"
