As soon as you enter the building, there is an overwhelming sewer smell. The man at the desk was not at all friendly. I am used to staying at the cheapest motels I can find and don't expect much, but the smell was hard to endure.

I booked and paid for a room through Expedia which wsa $43. Then the next day the hotel charged my card for the exact same room but the charge was $53. So i got charged $96 dollars for a $43 room. This isn't the first issue that i have had with this hotel.

When checking in we were charged a deposit that we were not aware of when we checked out we called to see about deposit which they said would be returned in 7 days which we did not have the money to return home due to that but we did finally get it back when we asked the front desk for extra towels

Room was nice and clean, bed was actually comfortable, but breakfast was very few options. All that was available were waffles that came out almost burnt, toast, a couple containers of yogurt, and some stale cereal.

The person at the front desk, who I think is the manager or owner had very bad bedside manners. Not helpful. Poor English. Didn’t offer any information. I had to ask how to get to the room even.
The room: bed sheets were clean, but cover had stains. Side of bed falling off, dirty towel on back of the bathroom door, somebody else’s food left in the fridge. Pieces of trash and a hair pin, hair and dirty/ fuzz all over the carpets. They didn’t even try to vacuum. Bathroom floors, counter & tub covered in hair and dust. Small
Hair shavings from numerous stays. Bath tub also had hairs.
We stayed to even get basic breakfast. It was shut down at 9a. I’ve never seen one shut down so early, my fault, but I assumed they would keep it open until 10a.
I realize this is a very cheap hotel and I stay at these often while traveling, but I don’t know how this place has the ratings it has. It should be 1-2/5, not 7/10 or 3/5. My basic need is safety and clean … AT LEAST CLEAN FOR BASIC SANITATION.

Bad, bad, bad neighborhood
Restaurant and bar that is advertised has been closed for years. Neighborhood is one of the roughest ones I’ve ever been in. Even the waffle house down the street was DoorDash only.

Filled out the online check-in, but I was still asked for all the same information when getting the key so I have no idea what the purpose is of the online check-in. After getting the key I headed to the room and found the door open. The room smelled like urine, the carpet was not vacuumed and the bathroom was filthy. There was hair on the bathroom walls and grime on the tub. Will not stay here again or any other super 8.

I had stayed successfully with this property before as a way of taking a break from my personal apartment that I rent, which is making me sick with smoke and fumes.
The hotel took one look at me and charged me $100 more when I had paid fully for the room.
These charges were not advertised. I knew nothing about them.
I have filed a complaint with the Iowa Board of Civil Rights because I believe this was Age or Religious discrimination.
The Manager was aggressive and awful to me. It made me upset and sick (I had just been sick too), and Paramedics had to come. My blood pressure was almost to stroke and the Paramedics were very concerned.
This hotel made multiple excuses about why they did this, but I believe it is because they don't want a certain type (group) of person there, even though the person has done nothing wrong
I believe this practice is evil to target older people like me.
Beware of this hotel.

Price was a bit high for the hotel but it was NASCAR weekend and it was a last minute reservation after our original hotel cancelled our reservation two hour before check-in.

It was not what i expected it was hot weekend and air didnt work anywhere in building the room was stuffy and wasnt cleaned very well the staff was nice but not real friendly the first room we checked into had someone still in it so had to switch rooms i will not go stay in that hotel again

The air in the hallways didn’t work or they didn’t have it turned on. The smoke detector in the room had no battery, The floor in the room looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed and the sheets and blankets had a bunch of stains on them. We checked into the room and left to go to our event and got back really late. The air in our room worked just barely enough to keep it somewhat cool but still hot. When we realized we didn’t have enough towels we went to the front desk and no one was there. We tried calling the front desk several times and ringing the bell and no one would answer. Finally someone did answer but wouldn’t say anything. Just sat the phone down. I could hear them typing and doing other stuff but literally ignoring me. Then they hung the phone back up. The next morning when I complained about the cleaninless of the room, the service etc she told me that due to storms the phone didn’t work. However, it didn't storm that morning till 5 am. She also told me that we should have asked to switch rooms but the hotel was sold out and they were never at the desk to even ask! This place isn’t safe and it smells musty and like mildew. The health dept needs to check this place out and the front desk clerk told me that it just needed a deep cleaning.
