Beautiful riad full of colour and character. On a quiet street in easy walking distance to the buzzing areas. Big comfy bed and nice hot shower. Breakfast was delicious and it was nice choosing different places to eat. Pool is lovely and the rooftop area is great to relax on. The biggest draw of this place is the staff. Wadi gave a big warm welcome with a useful guided chat with a map to explain the sites and areas. The staff there are incredible and Nada and the other people behind the scene work tirelessly and made us feel so welcome. A huge thank you to you all for a wonderful stay.

AMAZING. AMAZING. AMAZING. Words can’t express how grateful I am to the incredible staff. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and it was like a movie. As soon as we arrived they welcomed us with a refreshing tea ceremony and outlined the entire city on a map for us. I’m allergic to gluten and dairy, and the staff went out of their way to shop and prepare special gluten free breads and dairy free smoothies for me. The hammam experience was INCREDIBLE… I had to do it twice because I loved it so much. The Riad organized all of our transportation and services, and I can’t speak enough to the love, care, and memorable experiences they put together for us. From a dinner in the desert, to shopping at cooperatives with true artisans, to beautiful bridal henna with a song to bless us, to having the sweetest driver who took pictures of us everywhere we went, to tailoring a skirt and pair of pants for me, to giving us a lovely farewell. WOW. I have stayed at five star hotels around the world, but the Riad Hikaya is so much more. They became family. We love this beautiful old world oasis and will be back with our family for years to come. Thank you for giving us the honeymoon of our dreams. You are all truly a blessing! -Megan and Cory

Pros: Hospitable Staff, mingle with locals, safe, beautifully decorated and managed, friendly staff delicious onsite and freshly prepared meals, quiet property, walkable distance to the souks and cafes, Cafe Clock literally 200 ft away from Riad, and happiest group of people I’ve met during Ramadan. Cons: The water did not get hot and barely came on after 10pm. The pool was not heated. WiFi intermittently drops( not really an issue for me as I’m on holiday and did not need it—more of an issue if you need it). Now that that’s out the way! I enjoyed my experience here and would not hesitate to stay again given longer time in Marrakech. The people are extremely friendly, honest, and hard working. They want you to enjoy their country and take an immense pride in having tourists from all walks of life in their beautiful country. This Riad felt like home away from home in the sense that I felt safe and knew that I was ok each night. My son who is 11 joined me on this trip and he loved the authentic Moroccan experience at the Riad to include the welcome tea. I will be back! Thanks to all!!

Great staff. Monsieur Wadia, manager took care arranging taxi to pickup from the airport, Hot air ballooning, quad at agafay, hike to Ourika water fall, massage...and drop off at the airport. Abdol was of great help. Got us SIM card, printed boarding pass.. The lady at the evening shift was very kind. She even offered to make breakfast for us 2.30 AM as we had an early morning flight Nada brought a nice birthday cake for my wife Excellent experience

We loved the Riad
We absolutely adored the Riad—a genuine Moroccan delight. The staff's kindness, available 24/7, made us feel at home, and we'll genuinely miss them. The delightful food and the Riad's ideal location, close to tourist attractions yet peaceful, offered the best of both worlds. Next time we will do sure stay in the Riad.

A truly fantastic experience.
What a beautiful place to stay. We were welcomed by the manager and given some very useful information. Room was full of character and very comfortable. Breakfast was home made and very enjoyable. All staff were extremely polite and friendly and always looking to help. I will be telling all my friends to stay here. A truly fantastic experience all round.

Riad Hikaya is a feast for the senses- everywhere you look there are different Moroccan artefacts, textures and colours. You truly are transported to a different world as soon as you enter. All the staff are excellent- super attentive and friendly- making you feel like a king and queen within the Riad. Highly recommended, and so glad we stayed here. Thanks to Wadia, Nada and the whole team.

We stayed at Riad Hikaya for a few days in June 2023. The riad's staff is wonderful. They went out of their way to make us feel at home. For example, if you need a taxi, then the front desk can help you arrange one. The staff are also willing to help arrange anything else you need. The restaurant is good - a highlight is the breakfast. If you ask nicely, the staff will bring your breakfast up to the roof deck. The indoor pool is handy on a hot day. The hotel furnishings are beautiful. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

A remarkable place for a short break. My wife loved it and filled my heart with genuine gratitude. We were treated extremely well and service was always with a smile. Guidance was apt and true. My wife and I truly loved our stay at Riad Hikaya. From our gracious welcome, to lounging in the pool, celebrating with the staff a Morocco World Cup win, the delicious food, incredible service and friendliness of the entire staff, to our teary eyed goodbye when we had to leave. Everyone at Riad Hikaya makes you feel like family and we can't wait to visit our Family at Riad Hikaya again.

Fantastic traditional riad - great svc & location
John greeted us and spent 2 hours briefing us on Marrakech; best sights, best restaurants, excursions, people, culture, history, scams to avoid, bartering tips, personal safety, .... This gave us a lot more confidence in what is quite an alien environment for most tourists. We really enjoyed the whole experience from beginning to end. We will recommend Riad Hikaya to family & friends.

We would like to thank Wadia and all the girls for the most amazing stay. My husband and I stayed for 8 nights in October, 2018. The staff treated us like family. It was our first visit to Africa and first visit to Morocco but we had a feeling we knew the people for a long time and they are the people we could rely on. All our excursions outside of Marrakesh have been arranged through the Riad and all of them were amazing. We had the feeling we were protected and we enjoyed every moment of everything that we were able to sightsee in Sahara desert, Ait BenHaddou, Atlas Mountains and Essauira. All the advices and recommendations provided by Wadia were priceless. The Riad itself is very beautiful, very nice decorated. It was our first and last pleasant touch to Moroccan culture. Without the Riad staff our trip to Morocco could not be so wonderful as it actually was. Thank you so much again Wadia and all the girls! You are brilliant!

Riad Hikaya does not live up to its ratings.
Looks like a movie set but like a movie set, many things are visually appealing but actually don't work. Shower sprays all over due to connection which should have been fixed before guests arrived. Shower stall pan overflows. Beautiful Copper Tub but we had to use it as a luggage rack (no luggage racks). We only had two small rollaboards, one had to be placed in the bath tub and the other high on a shelf across from shower. Leather and cloth slippers were previously used. After bed was made one day I found a small white worm between the upper and lower sheet, also a little dark bug that when I squished it made a small red smear on the bed. The staff were nice but not trained and/or supervised well. We ate a meal there the first night but never after. While the cous cous grain was cooked nicely (best I had in Morocco) the lamb and chicken in both dishes were very tough and dry. Staff had a problem with anticipating our daily needs and needed to be reminded of coffee preparation and had to be taught how to boil an egg so the shell would come off easily (a little salt and vinegar). Staff were very nice but not very experienced. Dinner was one of the costliest we had in Marrakech and one of the worst (meat wise). I suggest the vegetarian cous cous. In closing, I'd skip this movie set until it gets its act together.

It was a pity that you did not discuss these issues with our manager whilst you were staying in the Riad. He asked you on various occasions how your stay was going, whether everything was ok in the Riad and whether you enjoyed your dinner with us. You replied that everything was fine. Had we known about the issues that you raise in your review, we would have immediately taken steps to rectify the problems and to endeavour to make your stay more comfortable. Lastly, we do think it most unfortunate that you openly mocked the ladies, who work at the Riad, to their faces. They are very kind and always do their utmost for our clients and have taken your reaction very much to heart.

They were wonderful to me. I felt like their attention to detail was carried through out every part of my stay. The manager was thoughtful and reliable in his overall capacity as director. The women who attended to my care were also attentive to details, professional with heartfelt attention.

The property was amazing! It is very unassuming from the street, but once inside the doors it is like a magical place! The host, John, is such an interesting and knowledgeable fellow - super helpful and provided so much information. The staff were also exceptional. They were very responsive and kind - genuinely interested in making your stay the best. I would definitely go back to Riad Hikaya.

top service in typical riad high level.
This place is absolutely fantastic. The room was super and the looks great. The food quite good with full breakfast. but in truth the most spectacular side was the service. the lady that also does massage could not have ben more helfull and caring. the lady in the front des stayed awake so she coulld help us get to a balloon tour at 5 am. she alert on a chair. the bellboy who spoke no french or englis ready to help with a smile. The boss superfriendly gave us full of tips and support.

Big thanks to Wadia and the team of awesome ladies who looked after us on our holiday. I don’t do reviews very often but happy to make an exception just to recommend this beautiful private riad with attentive staff. They really couldn’t do anything more to improve our stay. We stayed in the Hubb room downstairs next to the dip pool and felt like the pool was an extension of our room. Wadia even offered us a beautiful room to wait in as our return flight was in the evening. Highly recommended!

Traditional Riad Close to Everything
My teenage daughter and I had a wonderful time at this riad. The staff were helpful and kind, and the breakfast was wonderful. They even surprised me with a birthday cake. The Clock Cafe was across the street with its fun nightly activities and diverse menu, but there were many other restaurants nearby. Although it was a 15 minute walk to the central market and the souks, we never felt unsafe (even walking home at night). They arranged a cooking class for us at Maison Arabe which we highly recommend. Overall, I couldn’t have been happier with the choice of this riad for a first-time visit to Marrakesh.

Worth staying here.
Fabulously friendly welcoming Riad. So attentive and helpful. Little touches such as fresh bottled water daily, complimentary glass of wine, fruits and dried fruits, little chocolates with the etaye (mint tea). Nothing was too much. A wealth of knowledge from owner and staff offered to us on arrival about Marrakech and how to ‘survive’ our stay. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Wonderful place wonderful people.

The Riad Hikaya is beautiful - 2 old houses knocked together and restored with pride and passion. The staff are lovely and cannot do enough to help you. Food is excellent and (too!) plentiful. Right on the doorstep of the old city, a few minutes' walk will get you to the heart of the action.

One of a kind experience
The Riad is perfectly situated in the Medina, which is about a 10-minute walk to the main square and 30-minute walk to Hivernage making both modern and traditional worlds accessible. The Riad gives off that quintessential Moroccan feel with exotic decorations - like what you see in the movies. You may find yourself analyzing every detail in your room and other areas accessible to guests. The breakfast provided is included in the price and they give you so much food - you will not need lunch so great way to save money. I’ve enjoyed every meal prepared; dinner is made to order with fresh ingredients. Another plus is that the Riad offers a good range of wine which can be difficult to access in Morocco. Customer service is first class, one of the best I’ve ever experienced. On our first day, the owner provided insight on what to expect, what to see and how to navigate the Medina. This information was very helpful before venturing off the first time as the Medina can be intimidating. The staff are genuinely friendly. They’re always smiling and asking if there’s anything they can do for you. I like how they made me feel important. I truly enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to choose this Riad again should I come back to Marrakech.

What a wonderful Riad
What a wonderful Riad in Marrakech. Wajid and the entire staff were helpful and friendly with excellent English skills. The bed was comfortable, the room decorations were local and bountiful, and the food!! Magnifique! Every time we turned, even when we didn’t order dinner (which we did each night), there were candies, patisseries, and, best of all, the sweetest oranges and tangerines I’ve ever had. My only critique of the food is that the tajines and couscous dishes were suitable for sharing with at least 2 people. The included breakfast was enough food for the day! As to the hotel, my critiques are that I really wanted — and needed — the jacuzzi, but it was cold the first night and it wasn’t much warmer when they told me it was fixed. The pool in the garden is small but gorgeous, and I de-stressed swimming in it and loved eating breakfast next to it.

My home at Marrakech
The Staff and the owner John were trying to do their best to make sure you feel comfortable and relax. Always smiling and helpful&thoughtful. The city is incredible and safe.The Riad is walking distance away to everything you need to see. I plan to have a long weekend with my girlfriends in 1 month time and we are not even looking for an alternative. :D

The best nights of my holidays staying here!!
It was a great place to stay, I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Upon arriving we couldn't be welcomed enough and sitting with the owner for an hour giving us an insight on what we would see and the tricks of how the locals will try and extract money from you was so invaluable. They staff could not do enough for you and was quite sad to leave because they made you feel so comfortable and relaxed. I really couldn't fault anything about the place. I have travelled to many countries and experienced good and bad places but couldn't get enough of the lovely family atmosphere. 5stars all the way!!
