Perfect Stay at Z-Hostel, Manila
Had an excellent stay at Z-Hostel in Manila. The central location makes it convenient to reach popular pubs and feels very safe. The hostel facilities are well-maintained and clean. The rooftop bar is a standout feature, offering great views and a social atmosphere. Overall, Z-Hostel is a top choice for any traveler to Manila.

IF YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO SLEEP, DON’T STAY HERE I booked the 6-bed female dorm. Positives: - comfortable bed - breakfast included though I only drank the coffee Negatives; - this dorm (and the 6 bed mixed) are in the 5th floor, there are 6 floors in total and the roof terrace - terrible music until 2am on a Monday, totally precluding sleep, even with earplugs

Good location
I had no problems checking in or out. The room was also quiet and I like it that there is hot shower. Just bring your own padlock for the locker.

They had a party at the hotel till 3AM on a Thursday night. When I asked to be switched to another room, they gave me ear plugs.

Pretty bummed not to see Simo working there anymore. He was always able to get people to hang out and good go to for information. Baby cockaroaches in the bathroom on floor 4. Elevator button doesn’t work to go to the 4th so you have to take it to 3 or 5 and walk up or down. Seems like it’s slippin.

Nightmare
hostel staff not friendly with poor attitude, location poor, room inadequate with lots of noise from bar. Sleep,interrupted due to selfish guests who were drunk and entering room in early hours. Only got 3 hours sleep due to this and have staff enter to rest retrieve lost guest trainer which was placed in another guests locker. Awful experience and negative stay

Too noisy although the rest are great.
Staffs are great and very kind. Hostel is next to a popular bar and it gets very noisy during the night that you can hear the crowds “in the room”. The bunkbed also makes sound everytime you move a bit. The interior of the hostel is very modern. A private curtain for each bed would be better.

Love this place
Great Hostel with lots of entertainment on the rooftop. The staff were all super friendly and I met some awesome people in the cafe. If you are travelling alone, this is a much better option than any of the hotels i have stayed at in Manila. It's like staying at a really good friend's house!

Another night at Z! :) Staff is super helpful and remembers your name! Good internet in the lobby. Very active hostel. :( Bed pillows are too puffy and beds are too firm.

Best Hostel I stayed in
The hotel rooms are supper clean, staff a really helpful and friendly, the rooftop bar has a great atmosphere and is a great place to meet fellow travelers and locals, it's also located near a great choice of restaurants, clubs and bars. The best hostel i have ever stayed.

Don't forget to get your deposit back!!!
Please please make sure to remember to get your deposit money back. The staff forgot to give it to me, but entered in his computer saying that I had received my deposit money when I was checking out in the morning. Later around 8pm, I went back to the hostel to let them know that I never received my deposit back, but this female staff there consistently insisted that I got my money just because the computer had said so. So I had to talk to a different staff to really really kindly ask if they can run the CCTV, which they did. Well well, it turns out there, while I was distracted by talking to a different staff at the check out desk, the male staff who was signing me out totally missed giving me the money back BUT INSTEAD JUST CHECKED IT OFF ON THE COMPUTER SAYING THAT I RECEIVED IT. And there was no apology about this, even after the entire staff finding out that the hostel never gave me my money. They told me that "I had forgotten to take the money" LOL. Consider other hostels as an option please.

Breakfast is mediocre
It was my 1st time booking a shared room in a Hostel and I quickly found out that it was not for me. Although the room was orderly, the aircon is located besides one of the upper beds so the person staying in that bed will complain that it is cold so when the temperature is adjusted to that person's comfort level the beds located farther from the aircon will be hotter due to high temperature. The buffet breakfast is mediocre. The sound from the roof top bar is loud so don't expect to get a good night sleep before 2am. The check in clerk insisted on asking P500 cash deposit even though their rules accepts credit cards.

The Little things
Z Hostel is a little more expensive for a hostel, but there are so many little things that they thought of to make the hostel experience better. Nice, private dorm beds, and not crammed in a small room. Good restaurant, great vibe. I will return. Higher floors get noise from the rooftop bar.

Well worth it - definitely would stay again.
Very friendly staff, had electrical outlets in storage lockers for charging while secured which was great. Each dorm bed had it's out outlet, clean rooms, staff did everything that was asked of them, good rooftop vibe as well. Would definitely go back.

Very helpful and friendly staff.
The hostel and staff were both great and the breakfast was good as well. Just take earplugs if you want to sleep past 6 am. Traffic outside is pretty loud

Not as great as it looks
Private rooms are not as nice as they look and smaller. No hot water and the shower smells of sewage. Staff were nice and friendly and could order you a taxi but not that helpful with things to do in the city. Rooftop bar was nice and full of locals so harder to meet other travelers but if you want to meet more locals than this is a good way to do it. Makati is supposed to be a nice area but this hostel is in the seedy part of it. Overall I don't think this hostel is as good as it looks and I've stayed in a lot of hostels over the past couple of years.

Complete hostel experience from A to Z
This was my fourth time staying in Z. The staying guests here are in general, very nice and friendly with the traveler-hostel vibe. The rooms (esp. beds and lockers) are smartly designed. The staff are courteous and helpful, but sometimes get overwhelmed by the number of guests. It can get a little noisy because of the rooftop bar, more so because of the obnoxious patrons rather than the party music. Some of the guests commented that the room rates are a little expensive, but I don't think you can get a better place to stay at this price anywhere else in the Metro.
