Very Peaceful getaway for nature lovers

I couldn't fill in the boxes above so out of 5 with 5 being top, overall it's a 4. Hotel staff 3 - some training needed there, although they did try to be helpful, hotel condition and facilities 4 though more sunbeds are needed. Room clean so 4, comfort I would say 3 as double bed was too small, mattress very soggy and uncomfortable, pillows lumpy. Everything else was fine and hotel is in a lovely spot with great views towards the hills to the north. The wildlife was a bonus - purple faced langurs, mongoose, monitor lizard and chameleon in the garden! Not to mention abundant birdlife. Yoga was fun. Food was variable, sometimes really good but at others - maybe the chef was away? - bland and boring. More variety needed. No beer or alcohol and it wasn't even a poya day! Should have told us it was a dry hotel before we arrived.

Retreat to Mangrove escapes

The day we reached the hotel was a rainy gloomy day. It was also avrudu to Sri Lanka. We reached in the evening and there were hardly any people in the hotel premises. One of the managers greeted us and took us to the room. The ambiance was really good and blends with the nature really well. The rooms were good and had all the eqipment for a good night sleep. It was all relaxing and there was an amazing pool on the roof top. The tap water was a issue since it tasted salty and it was back on our minds when having a wash in the bathroom. We did not use the spa but it looked nice. The food was good but we had a concern where the staff did not offer us any menu or anything for the dinner. They have prepaired a very nice and tasty dinner course but we were not expecting it without a menu. Either way I got a chance to have a chat with the chef to get an idea on the next day morning meal. Other than that issue every thing was perfect. Even though we didn't use the pool on the ground floor it looked ok but needed to be treated. There were no tv and that was the whole point of escape from the busy life hence the name mangrove escapes
