Cheap and central but noisy!
The interior courtyard/water feature along with simple architecture and styling is quite nice and was the best aspect of the stay here. The decorations and wall graphics were unique and added an interesting touch to the place. Additionally the location is very central to key attractions, although Melaka isn't big, it's easy to access mostly everything on foot. Although staff were helpful when asked, I found them to be a little indifferent to anyone's presence there i.e. no interaction etc. On the other hand, the walls are super thin and you can hear everything inside the guest house and from the street. Similarly, if you are on the first floor, you will feel any movement outside your room or to an adjacent room as the floor boards easily transmit all movement and are squeaky. One thing I wasn't a fan of was being woken in the mornings to the sound of men clearing their throats violently/hawking up phlegm or whatever it is called. It was quite disgusting and was so loud it would wake me up and then went on for a few minutes. The shared showers/toilets were ok but didn't seem to be cleaned regularly. Also toilet paper was sometimes missing or wet as the showers/toilets are in the same room. Had to ask for a towel, wasn't in the room when I arrived, although not sure if that was freshly cleaned. Overall it was ok for a few days cheap stay in a private room and being centrally located but not sure if I would stay there again.

Reasonable place to stay
I stayed at triple room. The room was not bad. It has old smell and noise from upstairs was bit annoying but it was not bad overall. Air conditioning seems like not working though. The most good part of this guesthouse is the location.

Nice simple clean hotel on good location
For just a short stay to see the historic old city centre this is the perfect place to stay . Simple guesthouse but with clean rooms . Friendly staff , old small street surroundings . Shared bathrooms bo problem for a short stay . 5 minites only walk to Jonker Walk and the historic old Dutch City Square . Good value for money !

It's such a good experience staying in this hotel, cute and lovely for sure! Love their bathroom, always clean and bright. Only one issue which is the sound pollution can never be cure as it's not sound proof design. But it's seriously worth the money and we love conveniences of the location.

The room is clean and pleasant. The facilities are also in good confition. Very cozy place. Only problem is that soundproofing isn't good. Could hear the people walking and talking even with the door close. Fellow stayers were really noisy during my stay, so I couldn't sleep well.

A cozy place with a colourful history!
It has an ambience unique to Malacca's heritage buildings. Our stay was comfortable and we felt welcomed by the friendly staff and resident cat, KiKi. A quaint shop selling vintage and antique items was just across the street. We would consider staying there again for more good memories.

The sheets were stained and the rooms are really small. The AC is good though and if you are not looking for anything too nice then it has a great backpacker vibe and families seemed to be staying there.

Nice place to stay in Melacca
Love to stay at this guesthouse. The room is clean and tidy and the air conditioner is super cold. Although the bathroom is shared, it is clean. Just a few minutes walk to tourism hotspots. Definitely will choose to stay this guesthouse when back to Melacca.

The guesthouse is located nearby to one of the famous dim sum shop (indeed just down the street). It would be great if the guesthouse provide parking spaces for the customer as it is kind of hard to get parking there. Overall a good experience.

A charming guest house with friendly hosts!
Had a cozy stay at Layang Layang with my wife and another couple. It's an old shophouse converted into a guest house with a lovely courtyard. It's got it's own charm - the walls, the floors, the windows and just the overall layout of the house. The hosts were really helpful and guided us on where to eat and what to see. The living room\reception area is really well decorated with antique artefacts and there are a few board games to play and relax. The only con is that the sound permeates through the house from the streets as well as from people walking around the house. The thumping sound of people walking could be really annoying for light sleepers.

Great location, great outlook.
Shared bathroom but it was clean! Place was well decorated and had a vintage outlook. Close to jonker walk and near the malls. Excellent service and a good place to hang out with other travellers!

Beautiful guesthouse in an idyllic setting
The Layang Layang Guesthouse is absolutely fantastic. The staff are all friendly, helpful and a pleasure to interact with (especially the young Bangladeshi man with the mustache - I'm sorry I forget your name but it was great to meet you and chat with you!). The room was comfortable and clean with good air con. The communal area bathroom and shower area is picturesque, and the reception area is beautifully done up with all sorts of collected retro items. While it's only a stone's throw (one street parallel) to the famous Jonker Street, it's not caught up in the busyness of Jonker. My room was directly above reception and at the front of the building. Admittedly, noise did travel from reception, the street, and the room next door - but I think that this is part-and-parcel of staying in a converted shophouse, and the price you pay for being in such an idyllic setting, so I do not see it as a negative on the part of the establishment, but something to perhaps take into account when booking this type of accommodation. If you want a completely soundproof room, perhaps you shouldn't be staying in the old town area at all! Will stay again when I'm back in Malacca!

Layang Layang is a lovely little guesthouse! Great location; friendly and helpful staff; free tea, coffee and filtered water; beautiful building which is beautifully decorated; communal bathroom area was always clean. I had a great stay and will happily stay there again in future!

Excellent choice for a reasonably low price!
This guest house is sooo clean! I can make use of the floor as a mirror (if there's none). a block away from Jonker street, just a 5-minute walk. the room is wide, the bed is neat! with lovely receiving area. I unknowingly left my phone in the lobby. When I come back, the manager gave it to me. Special thanks to that! I chose Layang-layang (over hotels), to have an experience how to live in a traditional house. Although the guesthouse was only reconstructed, most of its foundations are already at least a century old.

stayed Stayed in a standard room with window for one night.The staffs here are very friendly and kind, their explanation about everything we need to know is clear and very helpful,it was a very unique + Combined with modern and heritage design guest house & with a beautiful courtyard but except d bed room.there's a very strong of the gum/glue smell even open d window & quite dusty.The location of the guest house is very near to Jonker Street(historical sites) and there is lot shop nearby. and can easily access other famous tourist attractions in Melaka Heritage Zone too.

the location of this guesthouse is very perfect, closed to Jonker Street and several tourist spots. shower with hot water and bathroom was quite okay. the only problem was that each room is NOT soundproof so that you can hear almost everything what people in other rooms say. However, except this soundproof problem, a short stay in this guesthouse is a excellent choice!

Had a great stay in this hotel. Beds very comfortable, and although bathrooms are shared, they are very clean.... & I never had to queue.
