Lovely location; me and my daughter loved it . The walks alongside with the peacocks were a one of a kind experience. Given the landscape and location of the rooms it is not suitable for old people or people with leg/walking problems as it involves some level of walking around on uneven terrains even to reach the go cart. Given the location and peacocks I personally believe it is a very expensive stay.

We had a great stay here. The location on the hill is wonderful great views to the temples. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Our room was clean and very well supplied. My only critique....need new tips on the snooker que!! Otherwise a great hotel

Amazing place!

It was an amazing experience all made possible by the kind Accommodations Manager Mr. Ashok N, the GM Mr. Vishal Srivastava and the Executive Chef Mr.Tapan Sahoo. They were very courteous and warm. The room was spacious and well lit. The ambience and surroundings were peaceful and lush green. The guided Nature Walk led by Mr. Muniswamy was educative and interesting. The food was very good. Overall, a truly five star experience in the bustling Madurai City!

The staff was super friendly. They helped with local travel and commute. Property is unique, quiet and serene, one with nature. Pandian, Ram, Sudipto were specifically super helpful. They made us feel like home. Paid attention to every detail and provided excellent recommendation. Food and Breakfast buffet were amazing.

The over all property was very good. Big sized room. Lovely location, beautiful surroundings. Lots and lots of peacocks offering a wonderful sight as well as lots of photo taking opportunities. However, the bathroom and its fittings were outdated and badly need renovation.

Most people aren't aware of this property within Madurai. Pasumalai hills are lovely and evergreen. We liked the hotel location. But since the hotel is 1890 most of their rooms are very old. We had A/C issue and when reported we got alternative room with A/C was much better. Thanks to the manager asokan who took care of this issue with utmost care. Room Service, House Keeping are very excellent service provider with kind words. Liked the Peacock sound and view early in the morning. Their breakfast is mouth watering with various variety. Loved the food and hospitality of Gateway Madurai. We were lucky to get views of Madurai Meenakshi Amman Gopuram from our patio. Rooms & Restrooms are spacious for four. Recommendation to build accommodation/dorm for drivers who are the carriers of guest.

Madurai’s hidden gem

As always a memorable stay made possible by a professional team headed by a GM who leaves no stone unturned to ensure that each guest feels like he is returning home. The renovations that are taking shape are changing the character of the hotel by modernising it but retaining the heritage aspect of the property.
