"Christian and Katherine are fantastic hosts and took exceptional care of us. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and well looked after. The food and wine were exquisite with stunning views over the river. Really special place. Thank you! "
"Absolutely LOVED our stay. Everything was perfect. We even got upgraded! Room was lovely and clean with a pretty view from the 1st floor (2nd floor in North America). Location was excellent.
Our favourite staff was Benedict at the front desk- she was so lovely and friendly. She was a joy to see at the reception.
Our other favourite staff was Sammy at the restaurant who was attentive and also hilarious. Our “4 course” dinner was divine. Spoiler alert: you get more than 4 courses.
On market day, don’t plan on moving your car. We took a detour that google set for us and it was stressful. The WiFi isn’t fast, but it wasn’t really an issue for us. I would definitely stay here again. I didn’t want to leave."
"I was going to stay there after an art retreat in chateau nearby. I was taught the night before by guests at the retreat that they stayed there and left in the middle of the night because the hotel is haunted and the noises in their room was too loud they couldn’t ignore it and they left telling the owner they couldn’t stay there because there is no ac. The owner gave them a refund after a huge fight.
So I thought to myself let me personally go and tell them the truth about what they told me. Now the front desk lady laughed saying she didn’t mind the ghosts. But I told her please let me talk to the owners and see if they can give me the refund so that I don’t have to go through this. I begged them on the phone. These men hysterically yelled at me telling me I’m making up stories, that I’m a liar. Now tell me why and who lies about such a thing? Let alone how uncomfortable it is to confess a truth that is superstitious to a lot of people.I am a girl, alone, so I can get scared and no one will care or bring me comfort if I am put in a bad situation so I have to try to protect myself. After a huge drama over the phone they said ok we will give you your money back but you have to pay the first night. I agreed and asked for a refund request. They said don’t worry we’ll do it ourselves via Hotels.com, we still didn’t retrieve the money. I learn after that this was a lie. They took the money and told Hotels they won’t refund. The hotel looks so old and bad I could’ve just said that"
"Lovely little hotel and restaurant in Brantome. Owner was very friendly and welcoming. Room was nicely decorated with view from balcony and comfy bed. Ate the restaurant and food was delicious."
"Overall the hotel was fine and a very unique stay but the heating was like a tap running all night and did little to heat the large room. It could have been cleaner but it did meet basic standards. No facilities to make drinks in room. The evening meal was nice as was breakfast. The views are amazing, we didn’t use the spa so can’t comment. "
"Very comfortable and friendly family-run hotel, surprisingly quiet given its location. The rooms were clean and well equipped. It has an excellent restaurant, with mainly organic and / or locally sourced produce. It is well worth booking a table for delicious, well-presented food and a good selection of wines, beers and other drinks. Highly recommended."
