The staff were all lovely but the property really needs some desperate TLC. The bathrooms are not very nice, the pillows feel about 15 years old and literally filled with the most uncomfortable effectively balls of foam. The bonus of this hotel is definitely its location if you want to Visit Universal as this is literally a few minutes walk as is the Metro into central LA. If the rooms are refurbed this would be a little treasure

Kind of mid tier for the price we paid. Room size was nice, but the lighting and corresponding switches were very, weird. Bathroom light wouldn’t stop flickering. Shower was very nice and the water pressure and temperature were incredible! It’s a reasonable walking distance from universal, which was also appreciated, and Uber rides were reasonably cheap to both universal/city walk & downtown LA/Hollywood. We received an email saying they started renovating months ago, and it seems like an obvious slow progress thing.

We came to LA for my son’s birthday and to go to Universal Studios. The photos online are deceiving. The pool was broken, the plumbing is wrong. The faucet temperature gets way too hot and is not up to code. There needs to be a thermostatic mixing valve that limits how hot the vanity faucets can get. The shower controls are all messed up too. The one control should be to control the water coming out of the rain fall shower head, the other valve is a diverter valve that SHOULD change it from the waterfall shower to the handheld. It did neither and the two just dribbled out. The only thing this place has going for it is the relative closeness to Universal, which is a sketchy ass walk anyways. Do yourself a favor spend a little more and stay somewhere else. I know I wish that I had, birthday trips blunder.

Great location but bring ear plugs. My husband and I’s room had an old door that connects it to the room next to us and, unfortunately, this door was paper thin. We could hear our neighbors loud and clear, they woke us up in the middle of the night or early morning every night we were there. Even if our neighbors were more considerate you can still hear everything. It’s a great location and nice hotel but you won’t sleep well if you end up in a room like we did. Don’t be foolish and hope it will not be as bad the next night as we did, ask for a new room right away.

No complaints about the service, but definitely a "low budget" hotel with some deferred maintenance like bathroom fixtures that are falling apart. Nothing terrible, but not great either.

Hotel looks like it is half finished. Rooms were very cold feeling. Not much warmth. Very noisy. Had to complain to the manager. It is located in a gritty area.

Very convenient for a trip to Universal. But please be aware that the room was in no way soundproofed. We had helicopters starting at 2 am, and people talking in the corridors until midnight.

Only thing good about this property is the location to universal studios. Otherwise it’s like a motel 6 vibe. Dirty, cheap, and shower barely works.

Many extra fees that you get hit with. On top of all the taxes, they charge a service fee of $21 (which they do not include in the price) and a $35 parking fee. They quoted my room would cost $160 and charged me $260 at checkout due to all the excess fees. Otherwise, it is a nice small hotel with no amenities.

Arguably the best part of this hotel was its close proximity to the Universal shuttle stop and an amazing tacos place (walk fast - sketchy area). Otherwise, we had a terrible experience at check-in. We came in the morning after our flight and were told to come back at noon (completely fine as we didn’t expect to check in that early). We returned at 1:15 and were told it would be another hour, so we went out again. This time, when we returned after 9pm, we were told there had been an overbooking error and they did not actually have the king size room we had booked months ago available. After about 10 minutes of waiting, they said they could “upgrade” us to a larger room. What they actually meant was an ADA accessible room, which meant no shower divider so water soaked most of the floor despite pointing the shower heads as close to the wall as possible, and floors so filthy that my husband’s feet were covered in dirt and grime within minutes of walking. Speaking of dirty, the walls were pretty distressed and there was an extremely questionable brown liquid stain on the shutters. We were told if it was not to our liking, we could change rooms to the type we actually booked the next day, which meant we had to pack everything up, have them store our luggage, and then essentially re-check-in after a long theme park day. Sadly, the room we booked was not much better with a hole in the ceiling, a shower that pooled water due to a slow drain, and a weird in-unit fan. Book elsewhere!

Decent room for the price! Super close to Universal Studios but we didn't walk. The shower handle (turning it off and on) was a little tricky and the lighting in the room could've been brighter/warmer but the room was good enough and what you'd expect for the price!

Staff extremely friendly and helpful, room very clean and everything in good condition. A downside is that the doors and walls are rather thin, so we could hear every word of a conversation being held in the next room or the hallway. But luckily the other guests were mostly pretty quiet during our stay. It's only a couple minutes walk to the shuttle that goes to Universal as well as the bus to the Burbank Airport, and a slightly longer walk to In-and-Out if your Californian friends insist you try it while you're in the state, haha. If and when I visit Universal in the future, I'll definitely stay here again.

The area was a little sketchy but for our destination the location and price was perfect. There is a hefty fee for parking. The hallways smelled musty and like piss. Luckily the room was clean. Walls are then, we stayed on the side of the street and it was very noisy and so were our upstairs neighbors. We were mostly gone all day and just slept there. The pillows were uncomfortable.

While we started off not entirely pleased, the hotel staff immediately addressed our concerns. We were treated with respect and made to feel heard and respected. They are under renovation and some inconveniences are to be expected however it did not affect us at all. The staff is the notably friendly and never hesitated to go the distance for us.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean. Rain shower is a nice touch. The fan in my room kept “clicking” so I had to turn it off and then the room was too hot. Didn’t sleep well here. Plus the fridge has a blue glow at night I had to cover up with a towel.

The stay was not bad. Everything was fine not great just average. Rooms were large and clean but, walls are a little thin. Not to bad but noticeable, especially walking back and forth on the floor above. The walking distance to the park was not the best discription. To get to the front gate where you need to enter, you need to take the shuttle. The shuttle was great. It's free and only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. It runs from 6am to 9pm and runs every 10 to 15 minutes. This is the best option to get to and from the park. I have nothing really bad to say, it just wasn't great.

We were going to a show at The Baked Potato. Less than a 5 minute walk. Hotel was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. We had one small issue that was resolved handily by our receptionist. It is very close to the freeway but we still managed to get a good night's sleep. It was perfect for what we needed for the night.

Very nice property, this is now my must stay at hotel when ever I’m in LA. Sara at the desk is amazing and extremely helpful. GI at the bar you will not find a better bartender. Housekeeping staff go’s above and beyond.

Hotel staff were great and very friendly. Location was decent. Close to Universal Studios; short drive, but a little far if you want to walk. Rooms were clean and spacious, but could use some updates (shower water pressure was trash / dim lighting / furniture was worn in spots). Overall a nice cheap hotel for a few days.

First room was horrible toilet didn't work and door lock on front door was broke. I had to look for myself a new room lazy desk people. Its in the ghetto need i say more you need to repay me back

Pictures online are a lie
The pictures online do not resemble the room you are reserving. The door to each room has a gap under them that I can stick my whole arm through. The room is just poor quality. The walls are really thin to where you can hear your neighbor fart! The lighting in the room is really dim, AC unit is loud to where it wakes you up whenever it turns on. The staff is great and the first floor/lounge is good. They do clean pretty well! These are the only reasons the hotel I gave two stars We were extremely disappointed in this stay, we almost checked out our first night to find another hotel but didn’t want to go through the hassle.

It was so easy to walk to the tram to Universal Studios! The tv didn’t work and they weren’t able to fix it, nor give us a credit on our bill for it. The pool was heated and fun, but extremely small. The floors in the room were so dirty, I walked around barefoot and my feet were gross. The shower was nice and had good water pressure!

To start the hot water was not even luke warm. Used wrappers in the room Bathroom had usrd tampons in garbage. Lucky that we only needed to stay one night. The front counter lady was amazing. If not for her this would have been a zero star rating across the board.
